🌿 National Reconciliation Week 2025 🌿
Theme: Bridging Now to Next

This National Reconciliation Week (May 27 – June 3), we reflect on the journey that connects our shared past, our present actions, and the future we are building together. The theme “Bridging Now to Next” urges all of us to look ahead and continue the push forward as past lessons guide us.

Reconciliation is not a single moment—it’s a continuous commitment. It's in the conversations we start, the histories we acknowledge, and the steps we take to ensure justice, equity, and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Let’s come together to bridge the gaps and create a future where all voices are heard and valued.

✨Timely Help: RVTS Supervisor Assists in Safe Birth on Boigu Island✨

A few weeks ago, RVTS Supervisor Dr Sally Street and Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) registrar Dr Zane Browne were called out to Boigu Island in the Torres Strait to support the emergency transfer of a mother facing complications during labour.
We're happy to hear that both the mother and baby are doing well ⭐️

This event is a strong reminder of the critical need for skilled GPs in rural and remote areas—doctors who are not only capable of providing comprehensive care but also ready to respond in high-pressure, life-saving situations.

We’re incredibly proud to have Dr Sally Street as part of our RVTS team. Her experience, dedication, and calm leadership in moments like these are invaluable—not only to the communities she serves but also to the next generation of GPs she helps mentor and train. Her contribution ensures that future rural doctors are well-equipped to deliver high-quality care, no matter where they’re needed.
