How to weaponise your failures to fight self doubt.

There's a few nuggets of wisdom when processing failure.

⭐Adopting a growth mindset is key to learning from our mistakes

⭐Failure can be an opportunity to grow and adapt rather than a setback but it always starts with accepting responsibility for your part in it

⭐Reframe your perspective, afterall, failures are just thinly veiled opportunities to improve

⭐Practice self-compassion as a daily ritual

Being dictated to by our shifting moods in mid life can feel so heavy.

But here's the good news. There's a tweak you can start now. Some call it 'eating the frog' or have a mantra like 'do it now' repeating in their heads, and there's some science to it.

Just starting a task without relying on feeling motivated, can actually lead to increased motivation in itself, as you experience progress and a sense of accomplishment.

Starting an "action begets motivation" cycle. A kind of reverse psychological approach.

And 'voila', look at you getting out of your own way!

By all means, come on in dopamine!

Taking action towards a goal, even if incremental, small steps helps our brain release dopamine, a neurotransmitter associated with reward and pleasure, boosting your motivation to continue.

Nice huh?

That feeling of progress will reinforce your beliefs in your ability to achieve a goal and further motivate you to keep it up. This growing belief to achieve a task leads to increased motivation when attacking a new task in the future.

It's win win again!
Now, go do the thing x

You scales are lying to you about fat loss!
We talk a big game about weight loss but it's visceral FAT loss that needs to be prioritised for improved health outcomes.

Better indicators of your health are generally:

1. How you feel, how is your ability to cope with stress?
2. Are you sleeping well?
3. Do you have enough energy to fulfill your physical tasks & mental load without unnecessary fatigue?

As a guide: A waist circumference above 88 cm for women and 102 cm for men is associated with a substantially increased risk of chronic conditions (WHO 2000).

What the heck is Dance Fitness Class?

Dance Fitness Class was founded by choreographer, Keesan Rubens in April 2016. ‘I wanted to create an upbeat, non-judgemental dance class where adults could get fit by losing themselves in great tunes, lip synching and a sense of community’.

Dance Fitness class is the bliss point between a traditional group fitness setting and a fully choreographed dance rehearsal without the pressure to ‘get it right’ or ‘be perfect’ the focus in the classes is just have fun, mirror the movements without rigid instructions, and above all have a giggle and keep moving. Dance Fitness Classes do not require previous dance experience as clients go at their own pace.

Contact Keesan to join one of four classes per week. Bookings essential. 0490 800 449
