Why Your Hamstrings Keep Tightening Up 👇
Your hamstrings usually aren’t the actual problem.
Most of the time they’re tightening up because they’re working overtime for something else.
Here’s what we commonly see 👇
⚡ Your glutes aren’t doing enough
Hamstrings start compensating during running, lifting and even walking.
⚡ Your hips aren’t moving well
Limited hip mobility = extra strain through the back of the legs.
⚡ Your lower back or pelvis isn’t moving properly
Tension from the lower back and nervous system can make hamstrings feel constantly “tight” no matter how much you stretch.
⚡ You keep stretching an already overloaded muscle
If a muscle is irritated or overworking, endless stretching can sometimes make it angrier.
⚡ Your nervous system is guarding
Especially after previous injury, your body can keep muscles switched “on” as a protective mechanism.
The fix usually isn’t just more stretching.
It’s figuring out WHY they’re tightening up in the first place.
At Mvmnt Lab we look at:
✔️ Movement patterns
✔️ Strength deficits
✔️ Hip + pelvic mechanics
✔️ Nervous system function
✔️ Running/gym load
Because tight hamstrings are often a symptom — not the cause.
