Do you know what chemicals are in your apples? And why you should choose organic?
So just before leaving for thailand for a month we threw out any left over fresh fruit into our compost including one single apple. I always buy organic apples from Kunara Organic Marketplace especially for us and Jimmy horse but time poor I chose a couple of apples from our local fruit market. Fast forward 9 weeks later Nathan uncovers the whole apple from under the dirt in the compost bin. It looks perfect. Everything else had decomposed and been eaten by worms. Why not this apple?
Because its been gassed with a pesticide once in cold storage to keep their longevity and stop ripening.... 1-methylcyclopropene...in this research paper attached...although states non toxic to humans it bioaccumulates in red blood cells and is toxic to fish, and earthworms.
