Are ice baths for you? 🧊❄️ They’re not for everyone, but many athletes swear by them to speed up recovery!
After a tough workout, plunging into icy water helps reduce muscle soreness, inflammation, and feelings of fatigue — making you feel fresher and ready to hit it again sooner.
Here’s the cool science: When you step into the cold, your blood vessels tighten, reducing blood flow and inflammation. Then, when you warm up, fresh oxygen-rich blood rushes back in, flushing out waste built up during exercise. This process helps muscles repair and reduces stiffness (Cain et al., 2025).
Plus, ice baths can even help calm your nervous system and train your mental toughness. Just remember, moderation is key—too much cold can backfire, so save ice baths for after your hardest workouts or competition days.
Curious to try the chill? Chat with your physio to see if ice baths suit your recovery routine!
