📣 Final Trauma Training Workshop for 2025 – Alice Springs

Kings Narrative is excited to announce our final Trauma Training Workshop for 2025, happening on October 8th–9th in Alice Springs!

Delivered by Arrernte facilitators, this 2-day workshop will equip participants with the knowledge and tools to provide culturally grounded, trauma-informed care for Aboriginal young people, families, and communities.

Why attend?

In Central Australia, our communities face some of the most confronting challenges in history – intergenerational trauma, systemic racism, poverty, poor health outcomes, and high rates of incarceration and violence.

This training empowers professionals to:
✅ Understand trauma behaviours and respond in culturally appropriate ways
✅ Explore Aboriginal cultural healing practices like yarning circles and story mapping
✅ Strengthen trauma-informed practices within organisations
✅ Build strategies for self-care and minimising vicarious trauma

This week we’ve been back out at the Granites with Newmont delivering our Cross Cultural Awareness Training. Kings Narrative is especially proud to be working closely with an amazing Warlpiri leader and advocate Karl Hampton. We draw great inspiration from Karl’s many years of service to the community, particularly more recently with the Warlpiri Project. If you’re not aware of their work you can check them out through the website for the South Australian Museum and the Warlpiri Project page. It is a privilege to be working closely with someone of Karl’s calibre of whom we have a deep respect for.

The feedback from the two sessions we delivered this week was overwhelmingly positive.

“I didn’t expect it to be so engaging and to have as much fun as we did, especially going offsite out on country.”

“It was very confronting to learn about the impacts of colonisation on Aboriginal people, I have much respect for you (facilitators) for holding that space for us so well.”

Recreating Song lines from Trauma Trails: The Ceremony of Indigenous Facilitation Practice

An opportunity not to be missed! Join us for this groundbreaking 5-day residential workshop on Country - the first time this powerful training has been offered specifically for and delivered by men.

🔹 Develop skills in Indigenous Facilitation Practice
🔹 Begin your journey from 'Facilitator In Training' to 'Co- Facilitator' and beyond
🔹 Connect cultural knowledge with trauma-informed approaches

Originally developed by Emeritus Professor Judy Atkinson AM and Associate Professor Caroline Atkinson from the Yiman and Bundjalung peoples, this training integrates cultural, narrative and trauma-informed approaches to healing.

As our Elders teach us: Country is our best facilitator for healing. For our men to continue actively participating in the healing of our communities, we first need to look deeply within ourselves.
