Are you a Registered Nurse or Aboriginal Health Practitioner experienced in clinical leadership?

Mparntwe Urgent Care Clinic provides a valuable walk-in service for people in the community experiencing a medical condition that requires urgent, but not emergency care. This service plays an important role in the healthcare landscape in our community, easing pressure on the ED and supplementing GP clinics.

We're looking for a practitioner who can build strong, trusting relationships with clients, the community and stakeholders.

If you bring exceptional clinical and communication skills, a proactive, adaptable attitude, a genuine respect for diverse client backgrounds, we’d like to hear from you.

Urgent care clinics provide urgent health care in a GP setting, so you don’t have to wait at your local emergency department.

Urgent care isn’t for a med cert or flu shot. You can visit a pharmacy for those.

If you attend the urgent care clinic for non urgent or routine care, you may be redirected elsewhere.

Our open hours are changing.
In response to community need, we are changing our weekday open hours to serve you better.
From Monday, 19 May Urgent Care will be open:
⏰ Monday - Friday: 10am-6pm,
⏰ Saturday, Sunday + Public Holidays: 12-4pm

When should you use urgent care?

Medicare urgent care clinics are here to help when you’re unwell or hurt and can’t wait to see a GP, but don’t require emergency care.

They cannot replace your GP, provide routine care or issue medical certificates for non-urgent conditions.

Please help us by knowing where to go, when. Information is available at the link below.

Our staff are here to help. Aggression towards them will not be tolerated.

Alice Springs residents now have better access to health care, with the opening of a new Medicare Urgent Care Clinic 🙌

✅ The clinic, located in the Northside Shopping Complex, 1 Hearne Place, opened it's doors in December last year. It is open seven days a week and offers free (bulk-billed) walk-in care for urgent but non life-threatening injuries and illnesses to all Medicare-eligible Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people in need of urgent medical care.

Almost half of presentations to the Alice Springs emergency department in 2021–22 were for non-urgent or semi-urgent care.
