I started It's a Lifestyle Health and Fitness to teach people how to set healthy goals that are sustainable forever. All too often we use diet and exercise as a reward or punishment. What if we learnt to enjoy looking after ourselves and removed the shame and guilt associated when we don't get it exactly right.

Happy first day of the week…
and if I’m honest, I’m feeling a bit tired and anxious today.

I got out for a walk with Blue, even went for another one thinking it would fix it… it helped a little, then I came home and felt flat again.

So today isn’t about smashing a workout or being super productive.
It’s about doing the basics:
✔ moving a little
✔ getting one or two things done
✔ not pushing myself into the ground

And yes… I’m putting up a photo of me on a better day 😅
just to remind myself this feeling isn’t forever.

This is your reminder that not every day has to feel amazing to still move forward.

People wait until spring to start exercising again.

But the people who feel strong and confident by summer?

They started now.

Autumn training isn’t about smashing yourself.

It’s about building the foundations:

• consistent movement
• strength that grows slowly
• habits that fit into real life

So when summer comes around…

You might end up with a book in your mouth…
a child climbing on your back…
and someone asking for snacks mid-squat.

It’s not the quiet gym workout people imagine.

But this is real life movement.

And honestly?
This is where the magic actually happens.

Because most people are waiting for the perfect time to start exercising.

When life is calmer.
When the house is quiet.
When they have more energy.

For most mums… that time never really comes.

So we learn to move inside real life instead.

Messy.
Interrupted.
But still showing up.

And those little moments add up to something powerful.

Strength.
Confidence.
And showing your kids that looking after yourself matters too.

One of the biggest wins I see with clients isn’t weight loss.

It’s when life gets busy or messy…
and they still find their way back to movement.

Take Jo for example.

Jo is a shift worker and often finishes work early in the morning.

Most people would understand if she skipped training after a night shift.

But time and time again, she still turns up to small group at 10am.

Not because it’s easy.
Not because she always feels amazing.

But because she knows that showing up keeps her on the path.
Progress isn’t perfect weeks.

It’s returning to the path.

Jo has been training with It’s a Lifestyle Health & Fitness since May 2020, and that quiet consistency adds up over time.

The goal isn’t to restart everything.

It’s just to step back onto the path.

That might look like:

• going for a walk
• showing up to your session
• cooking one decent meal

Small steps.

But they guide you back.

A lot of people who come to train with me aren’t beginners.

They’ve tried things before…
but nothing ever seemed to last.

Some feel nervous about gyms.
Some are dealing with injuries or fatigue.
Others just feel a bit disconnected from their body.

So we start differently.

We rebuild the basics first.

Daily movement.
Simple habits.
Strength that grows over time.

No punishment workouts.
No starting over every Monday.

Just learning how to show up again and again, even when life is messy.

Because the real goal isn’t perfection.

It’s knowing that when things fall off track,
you know how to get yourself back.
