Wonderful news for families and children needing speech therapy! 🎉👏🏻

From 1 March 2026, Medicare has expanded the M10 item group to include specific communication and swallowing needs.

This means more families and children may now be eligible for Medicare rebates, helping reduce the cost of accessing important therapy and support.

Last week our team completed a PD focused on different communicative functions in children’s communication.

It gave us a deeper understanding that supporting language development is not only about the length of sentences or the size of vocabulary children use. It’s also about ensuring children are developing a variety of participation and social communication skills such as labelling, requesting, commenting, greeting, asking questions, protesting and engaging in conversations with others in meaningful ways.💛

Hello, I’m Lydia! With 15 years of experience as a speech therapist, my main focus is to develop functional language and communication skills. I am a firm believer that connection is the fundamental building block for a child’s learning. My sessions are playful and interactive but always grounded in evidence-based practice to ensure we’re building skills that translate to a child’s everyday world. While I work across all areas of speech and language, I have a particular interest in executive function and how it supports all areas of speech, language and behaviour.

Outside the clinic, I’m a mum of two young kids. My weekends are usually a mix of bush walks, bike rides, the beach, and the inevitable circuit of children’s birthday parties.

Hi, I’m Farran — a Speech Pathologist with 20+ years in the field, and still just as curious as day one.

I believe deeply in excellence in therapy and in providing the highest-quality, evidence-based support for children and families. I work across all areas of speech and language, with particular passion for orofacial & myofunctional therapy, complex speech sound disorders (including CAS), and literacy.

I’m a mum to two older kids, a total reading nerd 📚, and someone who genuinely loves supervising and mentoring other clinicians. I care deeply about the families I work with and love guiding and supporting them throughout their journey.
