🤩 We are excited to have another Occupational Therapist passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children and their families.

Melissa graduated from Deakin University in 2015 and has a variety of experience and skills. She recently moved to Warrnambool area. In her spare time, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family and friends, going to the beach and baking. 🍰

Over the past 4 weeks you may have noticed we have had to company of Charlotte, a 3rd year Deakin OT student! Charlotte has been learning more about paediatric OT, observing and helping out in sessions, making some playdough from scratch and brainstorming new therapy activities.

Here are some questions we had for Charlotte regarding her time at Southern Right Therapy.

-Why did you want to study OT? 🖊👩‍🎓
‘’My mum is a teacher at a specialist school, I spent a great deal of my childhood following her around at work and engaging in the activates she planned for her classes. I was always intrigued by the OTs in the classroom and loved how they have the pleasure of working one-on-one with students/clients. After I graduated from VCE, I knew I wanted to study a degree within the health field and can work with kids. I am so happy I decided on OT and have fallen in love with the occupation throughout my studies’’.

-What has been some highlights of this placement? 🌟
‘’I have loved being able to accompany Mel in OT sessions, it has been so fulfilling seeing the progress kids have made over the small amount of time I have gotten to know them’’.
