📚✨ Book Week 2025 ✨📚

Yesterday we celebrated Book Week at Allanson Primary School with a fun-filled parade in the undercover area. Students from all year levels, along with our teachers, showed off their amazing costumes inspired by their favourite books and characters.

It was wonderful to see so many students and staff getting into the spirit of the day, the creativity and excitement made the parade such a special event for our school community!

Some lucky students even won book vouchers to use in Mrs Young’s Library, with runner-ups receiving a sweet treat of chocolates 🍫📖

Our Year 5/6 students also joined the Kindy/Pre-Primary class to help them create potato versions of their Book Week costumes. The results were fantastic and a lot of fun to make! 🥔✨

A big thank you to all the parents, family members and carers who came along to watch the parade! Your support helped make the day even more special. 💚

🔬✨ National Science Week at Allanson PS ✨🔬

This week, Allanson students have been busy exploring science in action! 🧪🧠

🖌️ Year 3/4 put their creative and investigative skills to the test with a fascinating experiment. Using whiteboard markers, they drew pictures on a china spoons and plates🍽️, then dipped it into water 💧. To everyone’s delight, the drawings lifted from the spoon’s surface and floated! 🎨➡️🌊 This happened because the ink from whiteboard markers contains an oily substance that doesn’t dissolve in water, allowing it to detach and drift across the surface.

🎵 Year 1/2 explored the science of sound vibrations. They learned that sound is made when something vibrates, creating waves 🌊 that travel through the air (or another material) to our ears 👂. To investigate, students filled plastic bottles 🍼 with different materials and shook them to make sounds. They tested how to slow down or dampen the vibrations, noticing that heavier or softer materials inside the bottles absorbed more energy and made quieter sounds 🤫🔇.

It’s been an exciting week of curiosity, creativity, and discovery at Allanson! 🌟💡

Allanson Primary School has once again been featured in the local Collie Bulletin! 📰✨ This time, it's all about celebrating our amazing principal, Simon Paton, on Australian Primary Principals Day. 🏫

Our students had nothing but praise for Mr Paton, and we couldn’t agree more. Thank you for your dedication, leadership and the positive impact you make every day!
