Lower back pain isn’t just uncomfortable — it can affect your mood, movement, and quality of life. Whether it’s from long hours at a desk, poor posture, or an old injury flaring up, massage therapy can offer real relief. At The Massage Flair in West Footscray, we specialise in helping you feel better in your body — starting with your back.

Sitting for long hours (hello, office life!)

Lifting heavy things the wrong way

Poor posture or muscle imbalances

Past injuries or overuse

Stress and muscle tension

How The Massage Flair Can Help

We offer a range of massage styles and techniques designed to support back pain relief:

Therapeutic Massage: A blend of techniques to target pain, improve mobility, and release deep-seated tension.

Deep Tissue Massage: Ideal for chronic lower back pain, working into the deeper muscle layers to reduce tightness and knots.

Relaxation Massage: If your back pain is stress-related, this gentle, soothing massage can help calm your nervous system and release physical tension.

Hot Stone Massage: Great for loosening tight muscles and easing back stiffness with gentle, radiant warmth.

Cupping Therapy: A traditional technique using suction to promote blood flow, reduce inflammation, and release stubborn tension — especially effective for lower back tightness and postural strain.

As owners and roller blades like Princess on Skates in the West would know , massage also promotes long-term joint health by increasing blood flow to the muscles and connective tissues. Rollerblading puts stress on the knees and ankles, and regular massage can help alleviate strain on these joints by reducing inflammation and promoting proper alignment. Lymphatic drainage massage can further assist in removing toxins from the body, which is especially beneficial after intense sessions. By incorporating massage into their routine, rollerbladers can maintain better mobility, avoid chronic pain, and keep their bodies in optimal condition for continued skating.

For self-care, rollerbladers should complement professional massages with at-home techniques such as foam rolling and stretching. Using a foam roller on the thighs, calves, and lower back can help release muscle knots and improve flexibility. Regular stretching, especially dynamic stretches before skating and static stretches afterward, can prevent tightness and enhance range of motion. Additionally, warm baths with Epsom salts and self-massage using a lacrosse ball on sore areas can aid recovery. Staying hydrated and maintaining a balanced diet rich in anti-inflammatory foods can further support muscle health and overall well-being.
