Meet Tahlia – Another one of our New Occupational Therapists!

We're excited to welcome Tahlia who recently completed her Bachelor of Health Science and Master of Occupational Therapy at Charles Darwin University in 2024.

Tahlia brings valuable experience from her clinical placements in adult and community-based services. She has a particular passion for supporting people living with chronic pain, mental health challenges, neurological conditions, and those undergoing orthopaedic rehabilitation.

Now living in the Limestone Coast, where she grew up, Tahlia is eager to give back to her local community by helping rural clients achieve their goals . Outside of work, she enjoys camping, playing netball, and spending quality time with family and friends.

We’re thrilled to have her on board!

This week, we are pleased to introduce another locally based Barossa OT, Bri.

Bri earned her Bachelor of Health Science and Master of Occupational Therapy from Flinders University in 2018. During her studies, she gained clinical experience in acute care at Alice Springs Hospital and the assistive technology sector. Post-graduation, Bri developed expertise in paediatrics, focusing on individual function and clinical needs, while also specializing in comprehensive reporting and functional capacity assessments under the NDIS framework.

Earlier this year, Bri joined the Abilities team, further developing her skills in adult occupational therapy. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys four-wheel driving and riverside camping with her partner and their two whippets.

Welcome to the team Bri.

Over the next few weeks we will be introducing some of our new OTs that have joined our amazing team recently.

This week, we're featuring Elise, a Barossa-based OT. We first met Elise three years ago when she joined us for a student work placement. She completed her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy in 2022 and began her career in Paediatrics. This year, eager to explore a new direction in occupational therapy with adults, we were thrilled to welcome her to our team. Elise blends her passion for rural living with her work, helping people stay independent in their own homes and continue doing what they love.

Elise is already fully established as one of our awesome OT's and we are delighted to have another local Barossa girl on the team. Welcome Elise!

Abilities OT has been blessed to be a large part of Glen’s journey as an occupational therapist, having first met Glen as a 4th year OT student. He was so darn great that we employed him as an allied health assistant, then a new graduate, and now a senior therapist who helps service our adult clients on the Limestone Coast. Luckily he likes us as much as we like him…

Glen was a fitter and turner in a past life so he thrives with a challenge. He is a problem solver - he has an eye for detail and is quite exacting in his work. Home mods, assistive technology and report writing- this guy can do it all.

Generally Glen’s a pretty quiet chap, but has the best one liners that keep the team laughing. He has a level head and nothing much fazes him - except when he looses the weekly staff quiz to co-worker Miranda…that really bugs him.

This quiet, humble soul is Miranda, one of ABOT senior clinicians.
Miranda started with Abilities OT as a new graduate, and we have watched her blossom over the last 6 years to become one outstanding therapist.
Passionate about sharing her knowledge, Miranda has recently completed a Professional Certificate in Clinical Education 📜through the University of SA and is now responsible for co-ordinating, supervising, and supporting our students, as well as providing clinical supervision to junior ABOT therapists.
She has a wicked sense of fun and some (ie OT Glen) might say highly competitive. This girl is a high achiever - Captain of the ABOT netball team; 1st 🥇(or 2nd 🥈) best member of the ABOT Social Committee, and the inaugural winner 🏆of the ABOT footy 🏉 tipping, ten pin bowling 🎳 and mini golf 🏌️‍♀️competition (…which she started…🤔).
Her clients adore her- she is kind, loyal, thorough, and empathic. She writes an awesome report; knows her assistive technology and is the go-to of manual handling. All round cracker. 👏🏻 👏🏻
