Last week we hosted our staff Christmas party onsite 🎄
With our old jail cells as the backdrop, we turned the night into a murder mystery behind bars 🕵️‍♂️🔒
The evening was filled with a hosted murder mystery game, dinner, drinks, plenty of laughs, and some very competitive inmate games—even the Grinch made an appearance and tried to steal Christmas! 🎅💚
Safe to say no one wanted an early release—it was a night to remember with an incredible team!

We recently had a wonderful visit from a group of local school children who stopped by the Abilities OT office to learn more about what we do! 🧡

Our director, Tim, gave them a behind-the-scenes look at occupational therapy—showing them the ropes, sharing a few laughs, and even giving some fun (and funny!) examples of the everyday challenges people may face as they get older. The giggles definitely filled the room!

What made the day extra special was hearing the children share their own stories and experiences. Their curiosity, kindness, and thoughtful questions reminded us why we love connecting with our community.

Thank you for visiting us—come back anytime! 🙌✨

🌟 Meet Bree – the newest face at Abilities OT!

Bree graduated from the University of South Australia with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy in 2022. She’s spent time working in remote Western Australia, where her passion for adult community care truly blossomed. Now, she’s back in the regions she grew up in, ready to make a difference close to home.

When she’s not working, you’ll find Bree camping, staying active, or getting creative at her sewing machine 🧵✨

Welcome to the team, Bree! 💙

🌟 Introducing Megan – Occupational Therapist! 🌟

We're excited to welcome Megan to our team! Megan graduated in 2024 with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) from the University of South Australia before joining us in February of this year.

During her studies, Megan gained hands-on experience in various settings, including hospital rehabilitation, community paediatric care, and a rural project connecting with the Port Lincoln community.

Having spent much of her childhood in the Limestone Coast area, Megan is thrilled to return and support local Adult individuals in maximizing their independence.

Outside of work, Megan enjoys spending time with her Kelpie, Bo!

Meet Tahlia – Another one of our New Occupational Therapists!

We're excited to welcome Tahlia who recently completed her Bachelor of Health Science and Master of Occupational Therapy at Charles Darwin University in 2024.

Tahlia brings valuable experience from her clinical placements in adult and community-based services. She has a particular passion for supporting people living with chronic pain, mental health challenges, neurological conditions, and those undergoing orthopaedic rehabilitation.

Now living in the Limestone Coast, where she grew up, Tahlia is eager to give back to her local community by helping rural clients achieve their goals . Outside of work, she enjoys camping, playing netball, and spending quality time with family and friends.

We’re thrilled to have her on board!

This week, we are pleased to introduce another locally based Barossa OT, Bri.

Bri earned her Bachelor of Health Science and Master of Occupational Therapy from Flinders University in 2018. During her studies, she gained clinical experience in acute care at Alice Springs Hospital and the assistive technology sector. Post-graduation, Bri developed expertise in paediatrics, focusing on individual function and clinical needs, while also specializing in comprehensive reporting and functional capacity assessments under the NDIS framework.

Earlier this year, Bri joined the Abilities team, further developing her skills in adult occupational therapy. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys four-wheel driving and riverside camping with her partner and their two whippets.

Welcome to the team Bri.

Over the next few weeks we will be introducing some of our new OTs that have joined our amazing team recently.

This week, we're featuring Elise, a Barossa-based OT. We first met Elise three years ago when she joined us for a student work placement. She completed her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy in 2022 and began her career in Paediatrics. This year, eager to explore a new direction in occupational therapy with adults, we were thrilled to welcome her to our team. Elise blends her passion for rural living with her work, helping people stay independent in their own homes and continue doing what they love.

Elise is already fully established as one of our awesome OT's and we are delighted to have another local Barossa girl on the team. Welcome Elise!
