National Sorry Day is not only about remembrance. It is about truth-telling, healing, listening and meaningful action. As this year’s theme reminds us, we must move “From Sorry to Action”.

We take time to reflect on the painful history and injustice of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who were forcibly removed from their families, cultures and Country, and the ongoing impact this continues to have across generations.

Today, on National Sorry Day, we acknowledge the strength, resilience and enduring spirit of Stolen Generations survivors, their families and communities.

We stand alongside First Nations peoples in the journey toward healing, reconciliation and justice.

Earlier this week, RFQ was proud to be involved in a Schizophrenia Awareness Week event hosted by Karakan 💙

It was a meaningful opportunity to come together, share conversations, raise awareness, and continue breaking down stigma surrounding schizophrenia and mental health. It was great to be part of such a worthwhile event.

🙌🏼Good News Story to Share🙌🏼

Kay has been navigating an incredibly difficult period, including the loss of her husband, recovery from a stroke, ongoing health challenges, and living with chronic pain.

Through all of this, she has continued to take small, steady steps forward.

With support, Kay began attending the Toowoomba Women’s Shed, initially just coming along for a morning tea while building her confidence. Over time, she started sewing with support, learning new skills and becoming more familiar with the space.

More recently, Kay has taken an incredible step, attending independently as a volunteer, even on different days with new groups of people. She has been creating handmade items, including aprons, and contributing in a meaningful way.

While she continues to navigate her grief, Kay has shared that she is beginning to feel a sense of hope for the future and growing confidence in managing on her own.

A reminder that small steps, taken consistently, can lead to something really meaningful. 💛

🎶 Would you join a sing-along session with your work colleagues?

RFQ and University of Southern Queensland - Australia have collaborated for a research partnership examining the role of music in self-care for mental health support workers. The project encompassed four workshops, with a focus on group singing, music listening, music-making, and song-writing.

ABC's Life Matters program recently interviewed Melissa Forbes from UniSQ and choir leader Emma Dean about the musical care program 🥁

Following close consultation with the Richmond Fellowship ACT team, RFQ has been selected as the preferred service provider to continue delivering the Accommodation Support Program previously delivered by Richmond Fellowship ACT. This includes NDIS Supported Independent Living (SIL) services for residents across Canberra and surrounding regions, including Goulburn NSW, continuing on a proud legacy of supporting the ACT community since 1976.

The transition takes effect from today, 18 May 2026, and has been carefully planned to prioritise resident choice and control, ensure continuity of services, and minimise disruption. Our focus is on supporting people to remain in their homes and, wherever possible, continue receiving support from the staff they know and trust.

This milestone marks an exciting step as RFQ expands into new regions across Australia. We look forward to continuing the important work of Richmond Fellowship ACT and will keep our partners and the community informed throughout the transition.

🙌🏼Good News Story to Share🙌🏼

Kimberley has been taking some incredible steps toward her goals, building confidence, developing new skills, and embracing new opportunities along the way 💛

With support, Kimberley explored her interest in further study, attending a university tour, preparing and presenting an art portfolio, and navigating the enrolment process independently. She has now commenced a Bachelor of Creative Arts and Community Wellbeing.

Alongside her studies, Kimberley has been reconnecting socially, re-engaging with old friends, forming new friendships through art therapy, and looking forward to joining social groups at university.

She has also been focusing on her wellbeing, completing a DBT course, engaging in regular art sessions, building healthy routines, and prioritising self-care through exercise, time in nature, and mindfulness.

Kimberley continues to stay connected with her support networks and health professionals as she moves into this exciting new chapter.

It’s been a big journey, and there is so much to be proud of. ✨

Have you ever wondered what the Richmond story is? 💛

We’ve taken a step back into the archives to revisit where it all began, and the vision of Elly Jansen, founder of Richmond Fellowship.

Her ideas, values, and hopes helped shape the foundation of the work we continue today.

Take a moment to watch and reflect on how far things have come, and the vision that started it all.

🥳 Good News Story to Share 🥳

Rochelle has shown incredible strength over the past period of her life.

After experiencing a long and challenging relationship, she made the decision to separate and prioritise the safety and wellbeing of herself and her children.

Since then, Rochelle has been building her confidence, advocating for herself, and setting clear, healthy boundaries.

She has also reconnected with her sister and father, creating a strong support network around her, and has taken important steps toward financial independence by accessing the support she needs.

Alongside this, Rochelle has worked hard to stabilise both her physical and mental health, a significant achievement given everything she has been navigating.

Her journey is a powerful reminder of the strength it takes to make change and the importance of support along the way. 💛
