💛 Today is R U OK? Day 💛

It’s a powerful reminder that a simple conversation can change a life. Taking the time to check in with someone — a friend, colleague, neighbour, or loved one — can make all the difference.

💬 Ask: “R U OK?”
👂 Listen with an open heart
🤝 Encourage action and offer support
🌱 Check in again

At RFQ, we believe in the strength of community, compassion, and connection. Today and every day, let’s remind each other that no one has to go through life’s challenges alone.

Because every conversation matters. 💜

🌏💛 Today is World Su***de Prevention Day 💛🌏

Every life matters. Today, we unite to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and remind one another that hope and help are always within reach.

This year’s theme is “Changing the Narrative” — a call for us all to listen with compassion, speak with kindness, and support those who may be struggling. By opening up conversations and showing care, we can make a difference.

👉 If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out:
📞 Lifeline: 13 11 14
📞 Beyond Blue: 1300 22 4636
📞 13YARN (First Nations crisis support): 13 92 76

Together, we can build communities of connection, hope, and recovery. 💛

🌍✨ We’re still soaking in the inspiration from the incredible IPPA World Congress earlier this year — and feeling so proud of the role RFQ played on the global stage.

Our very own Dr Peter Davison delivered a powerful presentation:
“Using Silence Purposefully: Supporting Emotional Wellbeing in Su***de Aftercare.”

His insights on compassion, presence, and purposeful silence highlighted the importance of truly listening in su***de aftercare — and left a lasting impression on everyone who attended. 💜

We’re honoured to have shared in such a meaningful experience and to continue bringing these learnings back to our community.

🏠 Working Together for Early Intervention & Better Outcomes 🏠

On 24 July 2025, RFQ was proud to attend the inaugural education forum hosted by the Preventative Peaks Alliance at The Ville in Townsville.

The Alliance — a strategic partnership between PeakCare, Q Shelter, Queenslanders with Disability Network, Neighbourhood Centres Queensland, and QATSCIPP — is united in its mission to address housing instability, strengthen early supports, and build more responsive systems. RFQ’s IRHP program aligns closely with the work of Q Shelter, our valued partner in driving positive housing outcomes.

The forum was opened by Communities Minister Amanda Camm, who shared her vision for working collectively to combine experience, insight, and passion for lasting change.

Key discussions centred on:
1️⃣ Housing instability
2️⃣ System fragmentation & institutional silos
3️⃣ Underinvestment in early and preventative supports
4️⃣ Overrepresentation & discriminatory practices

This was the first of many important conversations to come, as stakeholders from across the sector explored what’s working, where the gaps are, and how to design early intervention solutions that truly meet local needs.

RFQ was proud to bring a mental health recovery and housing lens to the discussion, and we look forward to continuing this work alongside our partners to build inclusive systems of support — and be part of the ongoing change.

🌟 Connecting for Impact Conference 2025 🌟

On 28–29 July 2025, RFQ joined industry leaders, policymakers, service providers, and people with lived experience at the Connecting for Impact Conference, hosted by Queensland Alliance for Mental Health (QAMH) at Victoria Park.

With the theme "Bridging Gaps & Building Futures", the event was a powerful platform for collaboration and innovation in the mental health sector.

RFQ’s Senior Research and Evaluation Officer, Dr Pete Davison, presented our Lived Experience Project and shared valuable insights on the purposeful use of silence in therapeutic relationships — sparking meaningful conversations about connection, trust, and understanding.

A huge thank you to Queensland Alliance for Mental Health for hosting such an inspiring event! 💬💡
