This hall in our beautiful home has seen many feet walk up and down it, in and out of our consultation rooms, where on the other side we see and hear and help and heal.. we listen, we educate, we celebrate, we reassure and we comfort.. we share in each individual family’s journey, each step of the way, in a unique way, every single day.
Our job is supporting families, which means our days are varied, they’re sometimes long, and they’re often unpredictable. No two families need the same things from us, and despite these doors opening and closing all day long, no two consultations are the same.
So, a little note on why we run late sometimes, or why we need to move appointments..
We know it impacts your day, we know you have made arrangements to make that appointment, we know it can make you feel uneasy when you’re looking forward to a check in, only for our admin team to let you know we have been called away, we are running late or we need to reschedule. We do our best to keep everyone as updated as we can when the unpredictability of our day is going to collide with scheduled appointments. But please know that that same time we have needed to dedicate to someone else unexpectedly, would also be (and will likely be at some point) dedicated to you too, when you need us.
We always welcome your feedback to our practice manager or our directors about these things, and very much encourage you to chat to your doctor or midwife about the context of this if it has caused frustration or worries. Our admin team do their best to always relay messages of these changes with kindness, we are grateful for them managing challenging rescheduling with minimal notice, and we are also grateful for people’s understanding and respect in return.
We are thankful to be in a position in private practice where we can be what families need us to be, when they need us most 💜
