𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 𝐋𝐚𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐜𝐚 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝

Congratulations to Rebecca for winning the 2025 Lawless Scholarship.

The Lawless Scholarship is a Board endorsed scholarship in recognition of the distinguished service and commitment to the health outcomes of the Apollo Bay and district communities by General Practitioners - Dr James Lawless and Dr Margaret Lawless.
The Lawless Scholarship is awarded each year, based on merit, to an employee of Great Ocean Road Health, who demonstrates continued commitment to the health outcomes of communities within the Great Ocean Road Health catchment.

The scholarship was awarded to Rebecca to support her studies in Bachelor of Occupational Therapy. As an Allied Health Assistant, this study will enable Rebecca to work in an extended capacity to complete foundational occupational therapy assessments reviewed remotely at Lorne.

It is difficult to put into words the value Sandy has brought to GORH in her six years as our CEO. Her many contributions to our health service cannot be measured, but it is seen and felt across our organisation, our culture, our people, our partnerships and our community.

Sandy is dedicated to growth, managing change for the future, project managing for success, with a vision for future health and community engagement. Sandy embodies and lives our GREAT values every day. She is genuine, respectful, empathetic, accountable and values teamwork.

Thank you Sandy for your compassion, care, leadership and dedication. You inspire us all to be our best selves and encourage those around you to live meaningful purposeful healthy lives. You lead by example, advocate for innovation and champion equal access to the best possible healthcare close to home for every person in our community. Thank you for all of the extra things you do, going above and beyond to support your colleagues and team. Thank you for pushing us to do better and be better. You will be missed.

Even on an overcast day it's so nice to see our Aged Care Residents out and about in the community. The harbour is a particular favourite spot of ours to visit.

Thank you to the EMET team from Barwon Health for providing emergency education and coming onsite to provide face to face training to our nursing staff and doctors. This week's emergency education session focused on poisonous bites. Living where we do it always pays to be prepared.

We love a game of 500!

Simple moments when you come together, share a laugh and a competitive game of 500 are the best of days.

Thank you to all of our Volunteers who spend time with our aged care residents playing cards, scrabble, hand massages and their company. It always brightens our halls and brings a smile to residents faces.

𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐀𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨 𝐁𝐚𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬

We're continuously investing in improvements at our Apollo Bay and Lorne campuses. Our Projects Manager, Kerry Bubica is currently overseeing several projects including painting projects at SeaMist Villas and our Apollo Bay campus, Paint it Black are due to complete works in January 2026.
We have recently completed roof works and windows replacements at our Apollo Bay Main Hospital Nurses Station & Medical Centre Reception. A big thank you to all staff involved and Spence Constructions for a wonderful job.
Looking ahead to the McLachlan Street – Apollo Bay Community Hub, the former Apollo Bay kinder site is being transformed into a vibrant community hub which will be managed by Great Ocean Road Health once the infrastructure project is completed. The new premises will provide spaces for services including community meeting rooms, visiting clinical services, and health & wellbeing programs.
We are happy to report that the planning permit has been approved. More on this project in coming weeks.

Today was a very fun day in Lorne Aged Care. Our Apollo Bay Residents joined us for lunch and an afternoon of music thanks to the ever-talented Benny Costanzo who entertained and delighted. Donning our hats and finest we embraced a Mad Hatters Tea Party theme for a whimsical day of fun and great company.

Thank you to our amazing lifestyle staff members and support services team for all of their effort in putting such a wonderful day together. The residents love it!

We’re proud to be one of the many local organisations supported through the 𝐆𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧’s Feed Geelong Appeal.
