This week is Womenโs Health Week, weโre proud to take an important step towards making GORH an even more supportive and inclusive workplace.
Weโre launching and sharing our commitment to become an Accredited Menopause Friendly Workplace. We recognise that menopause and hormonal changes are a part of life that can impact many of us, directly or indirectly, and that everyone deserves understanding and support at work. GORHs workforce is over 80% female, and these commitments build on our goals to be an inclusive workplace and builds on the work we have done on Gender Equity & Wellbeing.

Menopause is a natural transition, but itโs often misunderstood or not spoken about openly. The average age is 51, but symptoms can start years earlier, occur later, or be brought on suddenly through surgery or medical treatments. Symptoms can range from hot flushes and disrupted sleep to fatigue, anxiety, or brain fog. Symptoms can affect wellbeing, confidence, and working life and they donโt stay at the door when you come to work. We want GORH to be a place where these experiences are met with empathy, flexibility, and practical solutions.
We also note that Menstrual health challenges are common at all ages, yet are also often invisible in workplaces. These include painful or heavy periods, PMS/PMDD, endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids, and polycystic o***y syndrome (PCOS). Symptoms can include severe pain, heavy bleeding, fatigue, and mood changes all of which can impact wellbeing and work. Whilst the Accreditation is for a Menopause Friendly Workplace, we believe this process will open conversations about other womenโs health and we will look at Menopause & Menstrual Health across this initiative.
