Outcome of another Bike Ergonomist assessments:
• Identified low back pain due to posture positioning and carrying position with the handlebars
• Spinal position excessively extended and not relaxed pre adjustment.
• Feet placement on Giant Flat base pedals (no cleats) ascertained to ensure equal crank power in down stroke on both side of legs and optimizing downward force pressure.
• Seat height adjusted by 2 mm to ensure bilateral crank angle of knee joint.
• Seat angle adjusted 2 degrees forward to reduce sacral pressure (ischium) which co-contributes to low back pain
• Elbow angle was close to zero and needed to obtain approximately 20 degrees at the olecranon fossa (elbow joint) to ensure that there is good dissipation of vibratory pressure away from the wrist and away from the shoulders and upper torso. This was achieved by angulating the handlebar rotating anti-clockwise to provide a closer grip position and space to the brakes.
• Extender handles fitted were also repositioned closer by 5 degrees for the Left and 3 degrees for the Right to account for natural geometry differential of the upper torso.
Outcome - a much better relaxed geometry of bike working for the man (photo taken is pre-assessment)
