New Times for Baby Rhyme Time...

Hi Everyone! We regularly assess our programs at the Library, which helps ensure that we continue to learn from and improve what we do.

Based on feedback on our children's programs, we have decided to streamline our Baby Rhyme Time sessions into one session, on Tuesdays at 10.30am.

We highly encourage our attendees to continue to use the space after the session for playtime and to catch up with the other parents/carers.

The Library is always open to hearing new ideas - please reach out if you have any suggestions.

The program will at the Ararat Neighbourhood House, in the Gason Car Park opposite the Neighbourhood House in Campbell Street, Ararat on Wednesday, 16th August 2023 between 10am - 2pm.

Concerning statistics, of a survey of more than 9,200 cars, found that nine out of ten Victorian kids are not safe while travelling in the car, due to their child car restraints being either incorrectly installed or used. Therefore, we invite parents and carers (inc. grandparents) to book in and let us check or install your car seat!
Please note, if you need to have more than 1 child car restraint fitted/ checked, you will need to book multiple appointments.

We will be celebrating NAIDOC week with the story 'Welcome to Country' by Aunty Joy Murphy and Lisa Kennedy, with an inspired craft to follow!

Mini Makers is designed especially for preschoolers, however older siblings are very welcome to join us during the school holidays for crafty fun! The sessions are free, we warmly welcome new families, and there is no need to book! 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Hello ! the Ballarat YMCA a currently surveying our community in regards to pre-prep.

Early learning is important to children’s development. Y Kinders as a part of the Best Start, Best Life early childhood education reform, has been announced amongst the first services in Victoria to offer 30 hours of fully funded, free kindergarten for 4-year-old children, with Ararat Rural City, commencing in 2025 to deliver this program.

The Pre-Prep program is the focus of this brief survey. We want to learn from families, your understanding of the program and what factors we as your local early years manager should be considering.

This survey will take approximately 5 minutes of your time. You are not identifiable in our results unless you would like to receive informational updates from us. The information you provide will be used for the purpose of Y Ballarat’s Pre-Prep program planning.

Thank you in advance for your time and contribution towards this importance research.

What is Kinship care ?

Kinship Care is when a child or young person’s parents are unable to care for them and they are being cared for by siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles or friends of the family.

CAFS facilitates monthly support groups for all kinship carers across the Central Highlands. These groups are held monthly in Ballarat, Bacchus Marsh, Ararat, and Daylesford (beginning in April).

All kinship carers are welcome to join us:

• For a coffee and a chat
• To meet other Carers
• To access information and support
