Could the right help be the key to unlocking your potential?

When Andrew chose to make a fresh start, he didn’t just get a job - he got the support, encouragement, and guidance he needed to succeed.

After joining APM Employment Services in Dubbo, Andrew’s dream of working at Woolworths became a reality.

With help from the APM team, he completed training, got help with transport and work gear, and even had someone by his side during his first shifts.

Now, Andrew is thriving in a permanent role and picking up extra shifts.

He’s more confident, independent, and proud of what he’s achieved.

💬 “APM worked with me to get a great job. They went with me to work and helped me with my training. They also helped me to fix my car and get new clothes for work.”

If you’re living with a disability or facing barriers to employment, APM is here to help you find the right job - and make sure you feel supported every step of the way.

What happens when lived experience meets heartfelt support?

In the latest episode of Ellie Cole’s Couch, Paralympian Ellie Cole sits down with APM team member Lorna for a powerful and personal conversation about disability, resilience, and connection.

From Ellie’s reflections on growing up with one leg to Lorna’s memories of her father - who lost both legs to diabetes - this episode is a reminder that disability doesn’t define us, but it can shape the way we uplift others.

Lorna shares her own journey with Parkinson’s and how it’s helped her connect with the people she supports at APM.

Her message is simple but powerful: “You’re not alone in this journey. I can walk the journey with you.”

Tune in to hear how empathy, resilience, and shared experience can create real impact.

What if your passion for food could lead to a job - and a chance to serve professional athletes?

That’s what happened in Playford last week thanks to the Cook Move Grow program!

This exciting new initiative gave young job seekers the chance to:

- Train in a real commercial kitchen
- Earn accredited hospitality skills
- Learn health & wellbeing tips from elite athletes
- Tour a top local hotel for industry insights

And the best part?

They cooked and served meals to Adelaide United players - gaining confidence, teamwork skills, and a taste of what’s possible.

This is what happens when community, sport, and opportunity come together.

👏 Huge shoutout to our fellow partners who made it happen: City of Playford, SYC Training, and Adelaide United Football Club.

FLASHBACK FRIDAY

What could happen if you had the right support when you needed it?

This week, we revisit one of the incredible people we’ve had the privilege to support - Chanay, whose story reminds us how courage and the right support can change everything.

At just 16, Chanay faced the life-altering challenge of losing her hearing due to a rare disease.

The journey through surgeries, a cochlear implant, and the emotional toll of hearing loss was tough - but Chanay didn’t let it define her future.

With the help of her family, friends, and APM Employment Services, Chanay found her way forward.

She worked with one of our dedicated consultants to build her confidence, sharpen her job-seeking skills, and prepare for interviews.

Her goal? To work in hospitality and serve people with a smile.

And she did just that.

Chanay landed a job at a local coffee shop - offered on the spot after her interview!
See Chanay share her story in the video below.

Our teams have supported thousands of Australians to find meaningful employment, and help businesses discover talented, motivated team members like Chanay, through Disability Employment Services.

From 1 November, we’re excited to welcome the new Inclusive Employment Australia program, and continuing to help even more people with disability, injury, or health conditions find a job that works for them.

If you’re looking for work and haven’t found the right support yet – get in touch.

Ever felt like life was working against you - but you kept going anyway?

Josh did.

Living in a rooftop tent and running his lawn care business from a riverside park, he was determined to build a better life for himself and his kids.

With support from APM Moruya and the Self-Employment Assistance program, Josh pushed through personal challenges including homelessness and addiction.

The goal was to grow his South Coast Property Maintenance business into a thriving full-time business.

And because he never backed down, he succeeded.

His dedication earned him a BizCover Change Award nomination, but more importantly, he proved to his kids - and himself - that change is possible.

Josh’s story is a powerful reminder - your past doesn’t define your future: https://apm.net.au/apm-group/news/josh%E2%80%99s-drive-to-be-a-better-dad-leads-to-business-success

If you’re ready to start your own business or find meaningful work, reach out to your local APM Employment Services team to see how we can help.

Congratulations, Josh. Your journey inspires us all.
