There are around 30,000 people in Australia living with HIV, and despite great work in reducing transmission being done, there are around 700 new HIV diagnoses each year in Australia.
In 2018, Dr MacKinnon completed additional specialist training, alongside his GP qualifications, enabling him to treat HIV, giving people living with HIV long-term success, health and wellness in the community, at their GP clinic, without fuss or hospital appointments.
While HIV is better prevented and treated than ever before, the risk still exists and almost 1 in 10 people carrying the virus do so without knowing it. Modern treatments keep the virus undetectable and completely untransmissable, but only if a person knows they have it.
We're proud to be a safe space for all people.
