⭐ ARC Gold Star Award ⭐

Congratulation to Shakat 👏

Shakat has been attending ARC for Occupational Therapy following his stroke, focusing on upper limb rehabilitation. Since commencing therapy, Shakatt has demonstrated excellent commitment and determination, resulting in significant progress across multiple areas.

A key strength of Shakatt’s rehabilitation has been the integration of his passion and talent for table tennis into therapy sessions. This has provided a highly motivating and engaging platform to target his recovery goals. Through these tailored activities, Shakatt has shown notable improvements in his upper limb strength and active range of motion. These sessions have also supported the development of his balance and overall coordination.

Shakatt continues to approach his rehabilitation with a positive attitude and strong work ethic, making meaningful gains each session.

⭐ Well done ⭐ your dedication is paying off! 👏👏👏

💪 Building strength, independence and confidence 💪

Our client began attending ARC in 2024, and engaged in a tailored program across Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Exercise Physiology, alongside regular group classes. Diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy at just 18 months old, and having undergone multiple hip and spinal surgeries over the past decade, her focus was on establishing a consistent, targeted exercise routine to improve strength, sitting balance and upper limb function.

We’re proud to be part of this journey and look forward to continuing to support her ongoing progress.

In 2015, ARC client Ari sustained an acquired brain injury following the removal of a brain tumour. Since then, she has shown incredible determination as she worked to rebuild her independence, confidence, and everyday life.

Ari continues to challenge herself and embrace new opportunities. She works in a disability-supported workplace in a pick-packing role and generously volunteers with OzHarvest, helping provide food to people in need.

Outside of work, Ari loves being active and spending time outdoors. Recently, she took on a new challenge — paddleboarding — proving that recovery is not just about therapy, but about rediscovering the activities that bring joy and meaning to life.

We are so proud to be part of Ari’s journey and to see her continue to grow in confidence and independence.

🧠 Understanding Concussion and Brain Injury

Concussion and brain injury are often misunderstood.
Many people expect symptoms to resolve quickly — but for some individuals, recovery can take longer and may affect:
• balance
• memory and thinking
• fatigue levels
• mood and emotions
• physical movement

The good news is that rehabilitation can play an important role in recovery. Our multidisciplinary team have extensive experience treating brain injury, understanding the complexity and challenges that comes with it, and are dedicated to providing a tailored rehabilitation service.

🧠 Brain Injury Awareness Week | March 16–22

Brain injury can happen in many ways — from concussion and stroke to trauma, illness, or oxygen deprivation.
And while every person’s experience is different, one thing remains true: Recovery is possible with the right support.

At Advance Rehab Centre, we work with people living with brain injury to help rebuild movement, confidence, independence and participation in everyday life.

This week we’ll be sharing:
✔ Education about brain injury and recovery
✔ Real stories from our clients
✔ Practical tips to support brain health
✔ Ways rehabilitation can help

Because greater awareness leads to better understanding, earlier support, and better outcomes.

🚲☀️ What a wheely good afternoon at ARC!

This week we hosted our Wheely Active Biking Experience at the ARC Hub, and it was such a joy to see our community come together to move, connect, and try something new.

We welcomed a mix of ARC clients and people who were curious about the pedalled and powered trikes, and the sunshine turned it into the perfect setting to get outside and get active. There were smiles all round as participants rode at their own pace, explored the different bikes, and experienced just how freeing and confidence-boosting adaptive cycling can be.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, asked questions, had a ride, and supported one another, and also a huge thank you to Freedom Solutions Australia - previously Solve-TAD for making it happen.

If you missed out but are interested in learning more about pedalled or powered trikes, reach out to our team and we’d be happy to help you explore your options. 💙
