Your mental health matters.

Here we are, our main goal for 2023 is to normalise mental health in CALD communities (Australia wide).

Why?

There is a need for openness, trust, witnessing and validating mental health concerns in our communities. The need to open up and ask for help. The need to acknowledge symptoms and the courage to seek help. A great responsibility lies in addressing mental health in the same way we address physical health.

How?
How much of a difference can we make by seeing a mental health practitioner just once a year? Just to check in on how you have been this year? Having a therapist/ counsellor or psychotherapist you feel safe with is often key to a maintaining your mental health.

Normalising mental health in CALD communities but providing an affordable, timely and culturally competent space to navigate your thoughts, emotions and actions.

My favourite question to ask/ be asked during the initial call?

“What is art therapy?”

I love this question because it gives me an opportunity to showcase the what and how’s of the field.

Art therapy is indeed the intentional use of visual art materials and media in intervention, counselling and psychotherapy.

Intentional?

Yerp, you read that right.

The field of art therapy and art psychotherapy is a regulated field, and the term is protected. That means, only registered members of therapy and psychotherapy associations can use this title. Art therapist are trained to utilise art making and art processes to support the client through the process of using art as a primary aspect of the therapeutic process.

Then goes the follow up question: Do I need to be good at art to book a session?
