Women’s Pelvic Floor & Core Awareness Class

This Thursday 9.30-11am Shalom studio offers a safe, informed practice to build connection and awareness in the pelvic floor and its supporting muscle groups.
We focus on the pelvic floor itself, along with the deep abdominal muscles, diaphragm, gluteals, and lower back —all of which work together to support posture, stability, continence, and everyday movement.

Through mindful movement, breath awareness, and functional exercises, we move slowly and with curiosity , feeling for weaknesses as well as over tight muscles . We safely tone and strengthen these muscles without over-bracing or straining . The emphasis is on helping you develop a deeper connection to your body and confidence in how it moves and supports you through daily life.
For those in need ....props and modifications are offered .
All women welcome .

As we grow older, the body asks for a different kind of listening and Yoga is a beautiful practice to bring into our wiser autumn years.
It offers an opportunity for us to move & breath with awareness, soften where needed, build resilience without force., stay connected to our core and to quieten our busy mind.

Through simple, mindful movement , we stay grounded in the body and anchored in the moment — cultivating steadiness not only on the mat, but in everyday life.

Its never to late to start a yoga practice 🙏

THURSDAY sessions at Shalom studio Ashby is all about bringing awareness and connection to the pelvic space and the attachments that provide support.

And it all starts with the breath .
When you belly breathe you are nourishing all of the internal organs of the pelvis including your pelvic floor .

You see the diaphragm and your pelvic floor work together in unison . When you inhale, air fills your lungs and your diaphragm descends, increasing your intraabdominal pressure and allowing your pelvic floor muscles to lengthen/relax slightly.
When you exhale, your pelvic floor returns to its normal resting state, and if you exhale all the air in your lungs, it can help your pelvic floor lift a little.

Belly breathing also activates our Vagus Nerve, helping us move into a calmer parasympathetic state (“rest and digest”). We are better able to cope with stress, sleep better, have better bowel movements, and feel less tension
And last but not least it brings awareness and balance to our base energy center ..our muladara ...providing us with a sense of feeling grounded and connected.

Sessions are THURSDAY 9.30-11 am
All women welcome .

The grandmother egg connection
All the eggs a woman will ever have are formed while she is still a fetus, inside her mother’s womb. This means that when you were growing inside your mother, your tiny ovaries were already forming and filling with eggs — and one of those eggs would one day ...if not already .....become your own baby girl.

So for a brief moment in time, three generations were connected inside one body: your grandmother carrying your mother, and within your mother, the very beginnings of you.
Incredible 😍
A beautiful reminder of how deeply the feminine is woven from one generation to the next. 💛

Pre-natal yoga is on Tuesday evening in Maclean .

During pregnancy the pelvic floor is working quietly but powerfully, supporting your growing baby and adapting to the hormonal changes that soften and widen your pelvis. Taking time to nourish and connect with this area helps you stay strong yet supple for birth.
In yoga, we grow awareness and connection to the pelvic space with breathwork and certain postures that allow you to feel the lift and release of the pelvic floor without strain. Rather than “doing more,” its more about tuning into the subtleties and building sensitivity — noticing tension, softening where possible, and strengthening where needed.

Energetically, the pelvic floor is linked to the base of our being — our sense of safety, grounding, and life force. As the body prepares for birth, this area naturally becomes more open and receptive.

Bringing mindful attention to your pelvic space can help you feel anchored and empowered during these changes. Visualising breath and energy flowing down into the pelvis during yoga, or simply placing a hand over the lower belly and sitting quietly, can support a deeper sense of trust in your body’s wisdom as you move toward labour and birth.

This week in prenatal yoga we’ll be focusing on the first four chakras – Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus and Heart energies
In simple terms, that means exploring

🤎 Feeling grounded and supported ( root )
🧡 Moving with ease & creative flow (sacral )
💛inner strength and confidence (solar plexus )
💚 Love and connection (Heart)

Each energy centre offers us wisdom during pregnancy – from feeling safe and grounded to moving with more ease, to trusting our strength, and opening to the deep love of ourselves and the precious life we have growing within.
Through breath, movement, mantra and meditation we explore this powerful connection .
All pregnant mummas welcome .

TUESDAY EVENINGS 6pm -7.30

Please get in touch if you would like to join us.

My beautiful models this week😍
It was such a pleasure to share an evening of pre natal yoga with these two radiant beauties who have entered into their 30 and 35th weeks of pregnancy .
Their bodies are now prepping for the final weeks of physiological and emotional transitioning to occur before the big
birth- day arrives.

In this third trimester period baby begins to grow quite rapidly and the body will ask to slow down.
The hearts pumping more blood, the lungs are left with less space and less breath as the diaphragm lifts to accommodate baby. The pelvic ligaments continue to soften in preparation for birth, and the body may feel more physical dis - ease .
This period of time can be one of exhaustion , discomfort and immense excitement and perhaps a little fear of the unknown .

Energetically, this trimester may bring about a deep shift inward .
It can begin a time of gathering energy, both physically and emotionally, where a deeper sense of awareness , embodied presence and trust in the birthing process are cultivated.

The “Nesting energy”also usually arrives somewhere in these last few weeks where focus may naturally move towards creating a space that feels organised safe calm and grounded .

It's been such an amazing honouring experience to witness pregnant mummas who have or are attending my prenatal classes grow and transition through these trimesters of pregnacy and even more honouring receiving their beautiful thoughtful text sharing with me their baby's arrival and birth experiences .
So blessed 🙏

If you would like to join our little collective community of pregnant mummas, we met meet every Tuesday evening in Maclean .
Please reach out with any enquiries. We would love you to join us

Yoga in pregnancy offers a gentle yet powerful way to support the body as it changes and grows. Physically, it helps build strength, improves awareness of posture, eases common discomforts, and prepares the body for birth.
Emotionally, yoga invites calm, grounding, and resilience, creating space to release tension and connect more deeply with oneself and babe.

Spiritually, it opens a pathway to presence, reminding pregnant mummas of the sacred journey unfolding within. Through breath, movement, and stillness, yoga nurtures a sense of trust in the body’s wisdom and cultivates confidence in the natural rhythm of pregnancy and birth.
Classes are held weekly in Maclean Yoga rooms
6-7.30 pm

In prenatal yoga, we often speak about the power of softening.
Softening into the breath, the jaw, the belly, the hips, the pelvic floor . Softening into just being without having to do.

When we learn the art of consciously softening it allows us to release unnecessary tension we carry in our bodies and minds.
It brings the nervous system into a state of calm, inviting in a deeper sense of connection to self and the growing life within .

This embodied practice creates more space for ease, both physically and emotionally.

In many ways, it’s a rehearsal for birth reminding us that strength is often found in the ability to soften and surrender not only to the peaks and valleys we experience in labour but within life itself.
Prenatal classes will commence again on the Tuesday 26th August.

So why do pregnant women GLOW?

Well the fundamentals of science says that this beautiful glow comes from surging hormones , increased blood flow, and extra oil production — but there’s more to it than biology.

Growing a human is a soul-deep transformation and can often lead a women into a powerful experience of feminine embodiment .
Women often describe this time as feeling more connected to their body , their feminine energy and strength.
And this connection can contribute to why so many pregnant mummas radiate this beautiful aura ....
It’s as if your body is quietly celebrating this inner radiance and can’t help but beam about it.😍

Gratitude to Talika for allowing me to share her photos below that capture her beautiful radiance of pregnancy.
Talika joined my prenatal yoga classes when she was 21 weeks and showed up each week for practice till she birthed her beautiful baby boy a couple of months ago . Such a pleasure to have shared a little of that pre birth radiance with her and her growing babe .🙏

Classes will commence again on the Tuesday 26th August in Maclean
