Module 1 starts with Buber’s powerful book I and Thou (1923) and the contribution of dialogue and communication in the development of various therapeutic models. Especially the importance of family and couples therapy impacted by traumas from wars in Europe & the Pacific, the partitioning of India, the creation of Israel within the Middle East and currently the invasion of Ukraine. The decades following focused on the need for relationships between couples to help heal the individual.
