East West Fertility has closed due to my retiring.

It has been such a privilege and honour supporting the many women and couples who have come through the clinic doors over that time. I will always cherish the memories of the many babies born over those 36 yrs.

I've been watching the delightful drama series 'Call the Midwife' which is based on the memoirs of a midwife who worked within a religious nursing order. The opening and closing monolgues are exquisitely written. It's a window into dedicated midwives and nuns working in a poorer part London in the late 1950's and 60's. At it's heart it's about community, faith and the privilege of being guardians of birth.

We get to see relationships develop between midwives and pregnant women throughout a pregnancy. We get to see the midwives working closely with doctors. We get to see home births with doctors in attendance as midwives coach the women through labour and birth. We get to see hospital admissions when necessary. We get to see the social issues that doctors, midwives and women of that time with limited financial means dealt with on a daily basis, and, how new knowledge and changing policy shaped the future.

I would give this 5 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
