🏃‍♀️💨 New York Marathon training day 135😱😱😱

We now have five days to go!!!

This run was last night… A girl has to get a washing done you see!

Tonight we are flying out to New York City, which is both exciting and daunting- is everything done, have I packed everything, is everything organised etc.

I’ve been making lists and checking things off and I think I’m pretty much organised!

I’ve been getting lots of lovely messages and texts, wish wishing us well, so I wanted to thank everybody here for all their support over the last few months, making these reels has been lots of fun… But it’s also been an excellent opportunity for me to document this part of my life.

He may come as a surprise, but I’m really not that great of taking photos and I’ve got huge tracts in my life where I just don’t have any pics. So I wanted this one to be different.

So now I’ll have 140-ish reels to remind myself of this journey 😂😂😂

I’ve also had a few questions about whether I’ll be sharing the actual trip, the actual run etc.

The answer…

Of course!! He might end up being more on my stories than in reels so keep an eye out there and if you have any tips for this naturopath to go visit/sleeve/see/do - please share I’d love to know!

Now I just have to remember to get some film of today’s chaos to share with you when I’m sitting at the airport in the middle of the night tonight!!

🏃‍♀️💨 day 133 of New York Marathon training that means seven days to go😳😱

It also means that this time next week… I should have an NYC marathon metal around my neck🏅🏅🏅

As we get closer to fly out day, it feels that the days are just getting that little more hectic!

The 14 K run was seamless💅 it covered all our favourites- the river, the park, and the Terrace🥰

Besides a couple of little runs this week - probably one more here in Perth and then maybe one or two in NYC… I think this makes us OFFICIALLY MARATHON READY😬

Don’t worry, I’ll be bringing my average reel making skills with me and plan to share the entire journey with you.

🤣😂🤣

🏃‍♀️💨 day 132 of New York Marathon training… That means eight days to go!!!

We are so close to the start line now, yesterday I had my final physio session and today was the last Saturday session with our crew before we fly out on Tuesday.

The run itself, was relatively uneventful, but always beautiful around Lake Monger and Lake doesn’t herdsman 😍

When we got to coffee after though it was such a nice surprise to see a big crew of our running gang who all showed up to wish us well for the run, thanks guys!

Tomorrow we have 14 km on the program, the shortest long run in a very long time🤪😅 it feels like it will be a breeze but have heard that for some. It’s a tough one before the big day so let’s just see how it goes!!

Day 130th of New York Marathon training with 10 days to go it feels like everything is hitting a bit of a fever pitch🤯🤯🤯

I kinda knew this would happen but life has just gotten very very busy in the lead up to not only running this marathon but taking time off work and life to be away for a couple of weeks.

So sharing here what I do when I have a total of about five minutes to make and eat breakfast before heading out for the day.

I’d even speed it up further and make a simple smoothie if I hadn’t just been for an hour long run beforehand and needed the carbohydrates.

Anyway we are nearly there, run felt great, continuing to take things off the list, hopefully on the weekend will get some packing done… And maybe even finish booking the holiday part of my trip🤯🤯🤯

20/10/2025

Part two, of day 126 of New York Marathon training.

With two weeks to go we had 20 km on the schedule and the planned route this week was to run all around the river from Burwood over to Maylands back again and then what’s famously known as ‘the bridges’

Things that went well.

✅ gorgeous weather - sunny, no rain, bit of breeze, not too hot… Honestly could not have asked for a better weather!

✅ Gus felt great! Only a little less carbs this week compared to last but my digestion much preferred it, and the two gels I took went down really nicely (and I didn’t sq**rt them everywhere!)

Things that didn’t go so well.

❌ the last five or so km felt pretty tough, so I started worrying that I can’t run the marathon😂 only to finish and realise that they were the fastest five km of the run… it’s all such a mental game!

❌ my newish shoes (about four weeks now) don’t fit me the same as my old ones and even though they’re the same size I feel like my big toe is hitting the end of my shoe, which wasn’t so bad on today’s flat run but the marathon is hilly… Don’t worry if it means I lose my big toenail. I promise to share the pics.🤢🤣

Overall a bloody good run that have recovered from really well and now time to just

Day 125 of New York Marathon training… This means there is only 15 days to go!!

After last weeks attempt at carb loading the day before a long run, where I felt like I had eaten too much food, this week I focused more on eating my usual foods, in usual quantities, just making sure that each meal had a good carbohydrate source.

I’m feeling good from this plan, much better than last week, so hopefully tomorrow will be a good run

The plan is a 20 K run, still a long way but technically part of the taping down/recovering for the actual marathon 🤣😂

It’s getting so close now !!!

🏃‍♀️💨 New York Marathon training day 123😱

Sharing today the very routine 5 to 9, before my 9 to 5😂

It’s the same old story about consistency, routine, building movement into everyday life.

Whilst the intensity of what I do will change post-marathon, this 5 to 9 on a Thursday morning is a staple for me every week- whether I’m training for an event… Or training for life in general!

Getting routines started, getting them established, I think is the hardest thing once it’s what you used to doing it becomes like clockwork, honestly!!

What does your morning routine involve?

🏃‍♀️💨 New York Marathon training day 121 which means 19 days to go.

Officially it is time!!

First run post long run on Sunday and it went really well with a lovely 3K kick at the end in order to make family dinner on time LOL

🍛 quick and easy fish curry🍛

This this is a simple and versatile, highly nutritious, quick and easy to make dinner that I think you’re going to 💕love 💕

SIMPLE - in it is a protein and some veggies and some cupboard/fridge condiments.

VERSATILE - in that I used fish but you could use another meat or you could use tofu/Tempeh

NUTRITIOUS - with plenty of protein, fibre, veggies, spices, good fats… This is essentially a bowl of superfood!

QUICK - from getting everything out of the fridge to sitting down and eating the whole process was less than 30 minutes

Ingredients

500 g chopped fish
1 sliced red onion
3 cups cubed pumpkin
2 cups of green beans
1 zucchini sliced
2 cups cherry tomatoes
500 mil chicken
Red curry paste to taste (I used 2 heaping teaspoons)
1 teaspoon tamarin paste
Juice of lime

INSTRUCTIONS/METHOD

Watch the reel 🤣

🏃‍♀️💨 part two of day 120 of New York Marathon training

After all the prep, and the carb loading, and the coffee, and the spiky ball… Today’s run didn’t quite go to plan.

Waking up so full this morning I think was a sign of things to come. It’s not how I normally feel and once we started running it felt the same.

Having said that the first half even the first 2/3 went really well. We were running slightly faster than planned, it was a sunny day but the course was in the shade and there was a nice fresh breeze.

But every time I had a drink of water or took a gel, I was getting a stitch that was taking a fair while to go away

And then with about an hour and 20 to go I took my third gel and as you can see in the footage it went sideways/all down my front.

You’ve never taken a gel. It’s stickiness the equivalent to honey so I spent the rest of the run very sticky as well as salty and hot etc.

The win though, was that I ended up with nearly 34 km in 4 hours & 15 minutes, a fine pace (for me!)

END, even if I feel like this on the day, even if I have a gel blowout and get covered in sticky goo, again!!! then I know for sure that I could walk/run a little bit for another eight k’s

SO NOW?!?

It’s time to taper!!! This means I won’t be doing any bigger long runs from now until race day. I still run, fairly much the same schedule, but the long runs get shorter and easier.

New York marathon here we come!!!
