Innovative Perth Headache Network Launches, Pioneering Migraine Care in Australia
Perth, Australia – 22/12/2023
Perth is set to witness a groundbreaking advancement in migraine care with the introduction of the inaugural Perth Headache Network, the first-of-its-kind initiative in Australia. Aligned with the strategic action plan of Headache Australia on addressing chronic migraine, this pioneering network is meticulously designed to redirect migraine sufferers away from emergency departments and toward acute care within GP clinics.
Distinguished by its commitment to catering specifically to headache and migraine needs, the Perth Headache Network introduces migraine-sensitive lighting and offers complimentary parking to ensure a more accommodating environment for those seeking relief. Furthermore, the network provides acute migraine treatments, all of which are covered by Medicare, with a maximum out-of-pocket expense capped at $80—ensuring accessible and affordable care for patients.
Central to the network's comprehensive approach are its specialized practitioners, comprising a team of GP's, orofacial pain practitioners, consultant neurologists, pain specialists, and allied health professionals—all with a focus on migraine and headache-specific treatments. The collaborative effort among these experts facilitates the compilation of personalized and comprehensive headache and migraine treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
"The Perth Headache Network marks a significant milestone in revolutionizing migraine care across Australia," remarked Raelene Clark B.Sc., M.Sc.Med Clinical Co-Ordinator. "Our commitment is not just in treating symptoms but in delivering holistic care that addresses the unique challenges faced by migraine sufferers."
This pioneering initiative is poised to redefine migraine care standards, promising a paradigm shift in how individuals experiencing migraines access treatment and support. The Perth Headache Network remains dedicated to advancing research, care methodologies, and patient outcomes in the realm of migraine management.
The Perth Headache Network will begin taking patients from the 15th January 2023. For more information, please visit www.perthheadachenetwork.com.au or contact (08) 6186 0283 for appointments. No referral necessary.
