It's in the "therapy chat", you've hear it as "Window of Tolerance" but let's shift it to "Window of Capacity" 🌿
As therapists this is central to how we work in a trauma informed way, how we understand not only our clients but also how we show up in the room with the people we support. This series is about the space where we can cope, connect, and stay present — and what happens when life, stress, or sensory load pushes us outside of it.
We’ll explore how the nervous system responds, why we all move in and out of our window, and what actually helps us come back — to presence, felt safety and "connection not protection" mode.
No fixing. No forcing.
Just understanding, compassion, and practical ways to work with your system.
Save this series if it feels relevant, and come back as we build it together.

✨We have current availability for psychology assessments at Therapywell ✨
Therapywell currently has availability for comprehensive psychological assessments for:
• ADHD
• Autism (ASD)
• Cognitive and learning profiles
Our assessments are thorough, neuro-affirming, and strengths-based, designed to support meaningful understanding rather than simply providing a diagnosis.
Assessments at Therapywell include:
• A detailed clinical and developmental history
• Evidence-based, standardised assessment tools
• Consideration of attention, learning, emotional regulation, mental health and daily functioning
• Clear, practical reports with practical recommendations for home, school, work and community settings
• Optional collaboration with schools, GPs and other professionals
We assess children, adolescents and adults, and recognise the complexity and overlap between neurodevelopmental differences, learning challenges, anxiety, trauma and emotional wellbeing.
Appointments are available at our Auchenflower and Mount Gravatt clinics.
For enquiries or referrals, please contact our Client Care Team.

We know many members were concerned by today’s Financial Review story about NDIS therapies. Please be assured that SPA is responding on your behalf, including through our work with Allied Health Professions Australia.

Speech pathology is an evidence-based profession. There is strong research showing that early communication support helps children learn, connect and take part in everyday life. The suggestion that our work lacks evidence does not reflect the research or the progress you see in your work every day.

We also want to clarify claims about NDIS therapy costs.
🔹Therapy spending has remained stable at between 9 and 11 per cent of scheme expenditure for the past 5 years.
🔹NDIS payment data also shows that participants received only 2 to 4 hours of speech pathology in 2024, which is far below what many children need to make meaningful progress. In addition, many providers offer supports that go unfunded by the NDIS.
🔹These services are capacity building and reduce long-term public costs across education, health, mental health and social services.

Families also deserve confidence that their provider is properly qualified. SPA continues to advocate for title protection, including through Ahpra registration, so only qualified professionals can call themselves speech pathologists.

Invisible disabilities remind us that everyone’s story is deeper than it looks.
At Therapywell, we work with many people living with invisible challenges — from ADHD and autism to trauma, chronic illness, and anxiety.
Creating safety means believing people when they say something is hard, even if you can’t see it.
💬 We’d love to hear from you — what small acts of understanding have made a big difference in your life or workplace?

📱✨ Teens today face a constant stream of group chats, texts, and peer drama. It can feel overwhelming for them — and stressful for us as parents, too.
When messages don’t stop, our kids often don’t know how to set boundaries or step away without worrying about losing friendships.
In our latest blog, we explore ways you can:
🌱 Co-regulate with your teen when they’re flooded
💬 Teach them simple scripts to pause or walk away from conflict
🛑 Support them in knowing it’s okay to take a break
Because behind every “ding” is a nervous system trying to cope — and you can help them find balance. 💚

**“R U OK? 💛
Checking in isn’t just about asking others—it starts with us. Taking a moment to notice our own felt sense of ‘OK’—our breath, our body, our energy—helps us tune into when we’re steady and when we’re not.
And when we know how to check in with ourselves, we can show up with more presence for the people we care about. Sometimes ‘OK’ looks like laughter, sometimes it looks quiet, sometimes it looks like tears—and all of it is human.
Over a cup of tea, a walk, or a simple text—connection matters. Today’s a reminder to pause, notice, and ask: R U OK?”
