Stillness can feel very different in the body.

Yin and Restorative may look similar, slow, floor-based, quiet, but they meet you in different ways.

Yin asks you to stay with the sensation and notice your response.
Restorative allows the body to be fully supported, so effort can soften and the nervous system can settle.

Some days you need to practise staying.
Some days you need to be held.

At Tiroana, both are part of a balanced practice.

There’s something about this month’s new moon that feels like a quiet exhale.
Not a push forward… but a softening back.

At Tiroana, the moon isn’t something to follow rigidly or get right.
It’s simply something you might notice
A gentle reminder to pause, to sit, and to come back to yourself.

This New Moon in Pisces today can feel a little more inward.
You might notice a sensitivity… a soft awareness of what’s been building beneath the surface.

Not something to analyse.
Just something to be with.

If it feels right, take a few moments today,
perhaps with a journal, perhaps just sitting quietly
and notice what’s present for you.

A few gentle prompts to explore:
• What feels complete, even if it hasn’t fully made sense yet?
• What are you ready to let soften or loosen your grip on?
• What feels quietly meaningful to you right now, without needing to explain it?

There’s nothing you need to force here.
No need to have clarity.

Just sitting.
Just noticing.

This afternoon, I had the wonderful opportunity to connect with a community of mediation teachers from . The Ripple Effect is a fantastic business resource I’ve joined to support myself and the community growing at Tiroana.

One of the questions we were asked was: What first brought you to meditation?

It made me think about the very beginning.

In this photo, which I took this afternoon, is the first meditation book I ever bought, around 20 years ago. It’s by Jack Kornfield, one of the teachers who helped bring Buddhist meditation teachings into the Western world. His teachings are always so practical and engaging.

The book even came with a CD. If you remember what that is 😊

I remember buying it with the best intentions. I read it. I tried the meditations.

But at the time… meditation just didn’t stick.

What I realise now is that meditation had been in my life long before it became a real practice. It came in and out. It lingered in the background.

When it finally did stick, it wasn’t because the book was different; it was because I was ready to turn up to the practice.

Meditation supported me through a time when my mental health really needed it. It wasn’t always easy. It took commitment. But it became one of the most positive and important things I could do for my mind and my body.

Maybe you’ve tried meditation before, and it didn’t work.
Maybe it’s something that’s been sitting quietly in the background for you, too.

And maybe when the time is right, you return to it.

That’s exactly why I created PAUSE and BEGIN - A Beginners Meditation Workshop coming up at the studio. I want it to be a resource that helps participants learn meditation gently, safely, and with support.

Because sometimes the practice finds you again when you’re ready. 🌿

Tonight’s Full Moon in Virgo rises as a Blood Moon, a moment of shadow and illumination.

Virgo energy invites refinement.
Not perfection - but clarity.
Not criticism - but conscious tending.

This is a beautiful night to come back to the details of your inner life.

Roll out your mat.
Move slowly.
Practise with intention rather than intensity.

Sit afterwards.
Let your breath settle.
Notice what feels complete.
Notice what feels cluttered.

Then open your journal.

Virgo asks:
• What is asking to be simplified?
• Where can you bring more care to your daily rituals?
• What small adjustment would create more ease?

Full Moons illuminate.
Eclipses amplify.
But grounding practices integrate.

Yoga to steady the body.
Meditation to clarify the mind.
Journaling to organise the heart.

Pause.
Refine.
Realign.

Most people don’t come to Yin because they’re “tight.”
They come because they’re tired.

Tired of holding everything together.
Tired of being switched on.
Tired of pushing through.

Yin is the quiet counterbalance to a very full life.

Longer holds give the connective tissue time to respond.
The muscles gradually soften behind the fascia.
The breath steadies on its own.
The nervous system begins to down-regulate.

It’s not about stretching further.
It’s about staying longer.

The props aren’t there to make it easy.
They’re there to make it sustainable, so your body can feel supported enough to release.

And that ability to stay, with sensation, with discomfort, with yourself, carries far beyond the mat.

Yin at Tiroana is slow, steady, and supportive.
A space to soften without falling apart.

If your week has felt full… this is your counterbalance.

One year ago tonight, I held the very first class at Tiroana.

Tonight I’m sitting here feeling so much gratitude. Not in a loud, celebratory way, but more in a quiet, steady way. A "heart glow" kind of way.

After each class, when the last person leaves, and the room is still, I still pause and look around. And if I’m honest, now and then a few tears still well up. In that moment, I realise how lucky I am to get to do this. That I get to hold this space. That I get to support something that truly matters.

When you walk through the door, and I see that subtle shift in your face, that exhale, that’s always been the vision.

A space that nurtures and steadies.
A practical place to learn and practice.
A place to belong.

Thank you for showing up. On the days you felt energised. On the days you nearly didn’t come. On the evenings when you were flat after a long day.

You are the reason this space feels alive.

One year in… and it feels like we’re only just beginning.

A special thank you to all the beautiful faces in class tonight - it was lovely to quietly celebrate through yoga with you.

The light in me sees the light in you.
Namaste. 🤍

If you’ve ever wondered what a class at Tiroana feels like… this is a little glimpse.

We begin with grounding and breath.
We build warmth steadily.
We layer strength with intention.

There are always options. Always props. Always space to practise in a way that supports your body.

This final round leads us toward our peak — not by forcing the shape, but by preparing for it.

If you’ve been thinking about joining, maybe this is your sign 🤍
