Great to see Alethia getting back to running way faster than I can!
Hi,
For those new to my page - my name is Aletheia. I am a qualified Sport and Exercise Scientist working at The Shed NQ Health & Fitness.
My main passion is running and analysing performance metrics to get the most out of training.
However, even with a thorough plan and recovery strategies, life has a way of testing our patience.
I can empathise with anyone in the process of overcoming an injury while they are itching to run/jump/move again.
This is getting personal but I believe it is relevant and relatableโฆ
In 2024 I pushed my luck and ran 2 races too close together, coming first at both the Airlie and Townsville half marathon. Although in pain, I was fitter and stronger than I ever have been and I couldnโt let my watch tell me my VO2max was decreasing ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
At first in denial, I let the injury drag out much longer than I should have, resulting in the recovery process taking way too long. I know most of us can relate when we are smashing goals and scared of detraining.
With careful planning, a very supportive and truthful partner and some guidance and reassurance from medical professionals Delta Physio Clinic - I have been able to run 3 times a week at full intensity for the same duration as my group for three weeks now and the relief is indescribable.
With Sugar Rush just 2 weeks away, I can finally participate in my first race since 2024. Last year I was in a position where I thought I would just have to live with this pain. Now I am so keen to get back to where I was 2 years ago.
Honestly I could talk about this all day but what I am trying to say is listen to your body. The plan is there when our bodies are healthy but everyday is different and we must adapt and change the plan to suit us, not the other way around.
Words from a stubborn runner who will never ignore another ni**le ๐ฅน
Please feel free to share your experience of any past/present injuries and running concerns ๐
