🎊 The 2025 wrap! 🎊
2025 was not as big as some of our previous years, but it was still eventful. As for the biggest news of the year, well, we'll leave it up to the voters to decide. The options are…🥁
a) Dr Jessica Tint becoming an Associate 🤩
b) Dr Ravin Sadhai celebrating his 20-year Anniversary at BMMC 😎
c) Dr Siva Sooknandan and Dr Paul Williams defying the rumour mill AGAIN by NOT retiring 👊🏿👊🏻…or…
d) The renovation of the Maddingley car park! 🚘
(We all know it was d). 😂)
Farewells and Welcomes: 👋
We farewelled our receptionist Daen and are still proudly following his journey as a paramedic. It was a sad day when we farewelled our loudest, happiest-go-luckiest receptionist Chelsea, who left for NSW to start her next chapter. We really miss the sound of her laughing. 🥹 We also farewelled Tam, Grace and Lucy from the reception team. We then welcomed another Chelsea to the frontline, as well as Georgia, both of who are settling in nicely. We farewelled a few doctors this year too from our Maddingley clinic - Dr Inushka Perera, Dr Nazmin Sultana, and Dr Nirmala Pinto. We welcomed our new registrars, Dr Ferhat Yazici and Dr Monty Do-Wyeld to our Bacchus Marsh and Darley clinics, and Dr Ferhan Muneeb and Dr Rebecca Webster to our Maddingley clinic. Some of whom we will say farewell to next year, some of whom may stay, watch this space...👀
The nursing team warmly welcomed Briahna back from maternity leave, and also said goodbye to Simone. Our receptionists Karen and Susan became grandmothers again, and our nurse Emma became a grandmother for the first time, just last week! 👵🏻
Community events and Fundraising: 🎟🍻
The Pub Clinic and The Ladies Lounge, founded and ran by The Sadhai’s with fabulous community support, were again both sell-out successes. If you have missed out on tickets in previous years, get in early next time, as they are both great events. We once again did some fundraising – a social event to support Myanmar, and we wore our denim for Jeans for Genes. We participated in Crazy Socks 4 Docs Day, and implemented the webster pack recycle bins, which have been well utilised!
Hosting and Community involvement: 🫶
We once again hosted a Deakin Medical Student, Sammy Wu, giving him valuable insight to the world of General Practice, and the chance to parallel consult with many of our wonderful patients alongside his mentors, Dr Michael O’Malley and Dr Ravin Sadhai. We wish Sammy well moving forward on his medical journey. We also maintained our sponsorship of local sporting clubs. Our involvement in aged care remained constant, and we still have 7 doctors providing care for over 200 residents across 9 facilities, 3 of which are local. You’d be hard pressed to find another General Practice providing this level of service to aged care.
Milestones: 🏅
Our two veteran nurses, Emma and Katie, received their 15 years of service awards, and our Receptionist Susan received her 5 years of service award. And of course, as previously mentioned, Dr Ravin Sadhai celebrated 20 years with BMMC! Also shout-out to Dr Teena Joseph, who has worked tirelessly on the rigourous training, studying and exams required to pass her fellowship. And she is now a Fellow! Congratulations Teena! 🎉
Training: ✍🏾
Training, training, training…this year all of our nurses participated in extensive wound training, some of our nurses participated in courses of their choosing, then there’s the annual CPR training our doctors and nurses participate in, with reception joining in as required, plus the in-house services with allied health and Specialists where we brush up on all sorts of topics…we are never not learning, and constantly aim to provide the best care.
Next year: 🔜
In 2026, we have some staff leaving, new nurses starting, more babies to be born, more training to be had, a 3yrly Accreditation to pass at two of our clinics, and hopefully better care to be provided as we really do aim to get better with every passing year.
Wishing all our lovely patients a very happy and safe New Year’s Eve! And as for resolutions, instead of making one and breaking it by January 12th like most of us, try and implement small positive changes to your daily routine. It’s much more effective.
💫 See you all next year! 💫
