Faye Tandy Funeral Services Pre-funeral planning,- your input into how your funeral service will be, and/or conducting your service on the day, sensitively and with respect.

Planning your death or your funeral is no different to planning a birthday… don’t miss out on the chance to do it your way.

so often, people may even pre-pay their funeral, but NOT make a will, or talk about end-of-life issues, makes it very difficult for those left behind to make the "right" decisions for them. Have the talk- it WON'T make dying come sooner!

I also just heard from a friend who has had a book made of the front page of "The Times" in England, for her 90 year old uncle there- every birthday and the day of his birth- wouldn't that be an amazing story?!

I recently did a funeral for a lovely 90 year old, widowed and childless lady who died in a nursing home. It was attended by only the 10 people at that stage, and live-streamed, but it was very hard to create a meaningful ceremony as she had only 1, elderly sister and nephews left, some in-laws and few friends. She had left no details of how she wanted her funeral, and what were the significant memories and milestones of her life, and her sister's recollections were also hazy. It was just a reminder, to please record, or talk about these things in your own life now, with those who will help create your funeral- while they say funerals are for the living, to help grieve and celebrate, it is much nicer for them to know they truly are honouring your wishes, and celebrating your life. This doesn't have to be a full biography, but a few simple recollections, favourite times and people in your life, and even your choice of music, can add to making your farewell memorable for others too. And, if privacy is important, and you don't want things mentioned there, or discussed prior to your passing, write a few things down, to be left with your will or private papers, which CAN be included in your funeral.

It's hard to prepare a funeral with social distancing in place too- another reason to have prepared your own eulogy or life statements well before needed, then with video services available, the others (up to 10) physically at the service can add their personal touches while everyone appreciates the loved one's life.

There are some great resources on the official "Dying To Know" website- one of my favourites, is the "Final Checklist", which is by no means exhaustive, but could start each of us thinking, and then starting "THE" conversation. It's like the old saying, "there are only 2 certainties in life- death and taxes" Best to be prepared, and THEN go into denial.!

Today is "Dying to Know Day". Do you have anything planned that you would like to share, or are you attending a local event? The official website has some great resources on death literacy if you want more info. http://ow.ly/COgx50vlYfR

Lest we forget.

A lot of people these days pre-pay or pre-plan their funeral costs, but not their service. I'm offering a pre-planning funeral eulogy-writing service, where I spend as long as we need, collecting and writing your thoughts for your own (or a loved one's) funeral, hopefully years away.
The "best" funerals I think, are ones where mourners can laugh and cry, and come away with a sense of surprise too, "I didn't know that", and begin the sharing again over the refreshments. Who better to say what was important to you, and memorable, than you?.
For $300, I will also give you a copy of what we prepare, to be put away for loved ones to use later (and updates over the years if you want!)- you are under no obligation to have me do your funeral, but if I do, this fee comes off the final ceremony cost. Think about it, and let's begin the discussion! 0437 365 634

There are many new, different ways to be buried…. you can be buried in a coffin, cremated and your ashes scattered somewhere that you loved, or perhaps kept in an urn by a loved one…. What will be your choice?
