Good morning and happy Monday ☀️

There’s a few little changes happening to my small business that I thought I would update you on. I’ll lead with the less good news and go up from there.
Firstly, from the start of this year onwards there is going to be a cancellation policy. I never wanted to have cancellation policy and have really put it off for the past 2 years but it has got to the point where I don’t really have a choice anymore. Almost every week without fail 50% of clients will either not show up to their appointments or cancel right at the last minute. Because of this other people have missed out on bookings or I’ve put hours of work into someone who didn’t show up and that’s left me with less time for the people who do honour their appointments. As much as my main goal for my business is to do the best I can to improve people’s health, I can’t continue my business or my goal of helping people if I’m just losing money purely due to others just not being more considerate.
So please note that you will be sent an invoice of $50 if you have not cancelled or rescheduled your appointment within 24 hours of your appointment.

Okay, on to more positive things! The website, logo and all things visual are currently under a bit of a makeover and edit. So if you’re on the website and it seems to be changing quite frequently, that’s why! I’ll update you on the changes one they’re all done.

Appointments are still available every Monday or Thursday and can be done face to face, over the phone, or even video. All appointments can be made online via the website. Although, if you are after a tele-appointment just give me a call to make a time. Alternatively, if you’re looking for an appointment on a different day of the week, please also give me a call.
I’ll be looking to add a few more availabilities to another day of the week later in the year, so keep an eye out for that.

And finally, I have a few social media posts and blog posts planned for this year so you’ll probably be seeing a bit more activity online from me. Which will be a very new thing for me. So I’m wishing myself good luck.
Thanks for reading this far everyone. Have a marvellous week!

I’m back! I haven’t posted on the internet for almost a year because, let’s be honest, 2020 was a bit of a weird time.
There’s so much to catch you all up on! So here goes.
At the beginning of 2020 I started my masters in sports science, really loved it, but realised doing sports at that high of a level for where I’m currently at in my life was a little redundant.
I didn’t stop working all of last year either, so that in itself amongst all the chaos of the year that was, was enough for me realise I needed a reset and to focus on my work and my life (which is why you haven’t heard from me in a while).
This year, I’m going to be starting (and hopefully finishing) my graduate certificate in strength & conditioning, as well as starting my masters in nutrition (because I am a sucker for punishment... apparently). Oh and I nearly forgot to mention that I’m currently in the middle of a 6 month sports nutrition mentoring program, which has been incredible!
Life wise, I’m back exercising a bunch again, my heart is really happy, Hazel is still the best dog ever, and all in all I’m pretty lucky really.

I’ll be putting up a bit of a housekeeping post in the next couple of days to update you all on everything business related. Keep an eye out for that!

Hello everyone, it’s me, Selina. Happy New Years! ☀️
I’m saying Happy New Year now because I think we can all collectively agree that January was cancelled.

That being said, I feel like it’s going to be a terrific year. Partly because I’ve got a few exciting things in development for you guys. Which is actually the whole reason for this post; I need your help!!

I’m developing some online programming specific to nutrition coaching which is different to my nutrition consultations.
This programming is for people who have specific sporting goals or body composition goals.
What I need is 15 people to trial different layouts of this program for a month. This will include daily calories calculated specific to you and a specific macro breakdown. It will also include weekly check-ins and communication available to you throughout the week with any questions you have or help you might need. Then finally, some people of the 15 will also have meal plans that have been tailored to fit their macros so that you don’t have to think about anything except cooking.
This will cost $90 to be part of the trial, but it’s valued between $130-$180 a month. I’d love to give it for free just for helping me out, but unfortunately I’m not rich enough to work for free.
This won’t be starting until probably late next month and it also can’t start until I have all 15 people.

This program IS NOT for anyone who struggles with any kind of eating disorder, is needing help with any diagnosed condition they have, has any food allergies (although, if this is the case, you can be put into the group without a meal plan), or has other symptoms they are needing specific help with.
If any of those sound like you I strongly suggest you book in for a nutrition consultation instead (which you can do via the website).

For anyone who is interested in being part of the trial please email me at info@momentumnutritionaustralia.com or send me a message.

If you made it the whole way through this post, thank you, I appreciate you taking the time to read 🙏🏼

Hello everyone, it’s me, Selina. I’m still shocking at posting on social media. Maybe this should be a New Years resolution for me to get better at?

Just wanted to let you know that there are only 9 days left of 2019 that are available to make your nutrition appointments. So if you were hoping to get in before the start of the ‘20s, you can book online now ☀️

So, fun fact about me: I don’t actually really like salads.
Now, I’d like to clarify that I usually love all ingredients that are in a salad, I think I just don’t like something cold as a whole meal. To get through a salad I have to have something warm with it otherwise I’m having to force feed.
Oddly enough, this week my lunch is a salad and 100% cold. But if I keep all my ingredients separate and think about it as “dippy sticks” and not a salad, I can thoroughly enjoy my meal.

The point of this story is that there are always ways around fussy eating and a way to teach yourself to like things. Even when you’re an adult. Doesn’t matter if you’re 3 or 30 - fussy eating is just fussy eating. Which means it’s a mental game and that it can be changed. (This isn’t the same as allergies or other gut conditions)

Do you have to like all foods? No.
But if fussy eating is removing large amounts of foods from your diet - for example, a large portion of what you’re eating are only white foods - then this could lead to nutrient deficiencies or other health concerns.

What’s something new you could learn to like today?
Pro tip: add hummus.

If changing your diet is something you would like help with, then you can book an appointment through the website. Or if you have an questions, feel free to send me an email.

Happy hump day everyone ⛰🌈

For everyone that put in their guesses - it’s chocolate chia seed pudding 🍫🍓

This one is super simple, doesn’t have to be done overnight and tastes like everyone’s favourite childhood chocolate yoghurt... only better, but I could be bias.

2tbsp chia seeds
1 cup of unflavoured kefir
2tsp of vanilla
1 scoop of chocolate

Mix all of that together, leave in the fridge for 15-20 minutes, then cut your fruit real pretty and put on top (or don’t, cut it ugly if you like).

Felt hungry, will definitely eat later.

I’m still shocking at posting on the internet. On the other hand, I’m still terrific at meal prepping. Gotta take the good with the bad, you know?

So I realised I forgot to post any recipes last week, sorry folks, I’ll be better at the Internet one day... probably... maybe

This week I’ll post a couple things for you to make up for being slack last week.

What you’re looking at right now though is my breakfast for the next few days... it might not look like much but it’s delicious, easy to make, quick, and CHEAP. It probably cost me a top of $5 and gave me 3 breakfasts. At $1.67 a meal even us gen Y’s could afford to add some avocado 🥑

Now I know what you’re thinking... “Selina, get to the point, tell us what it is and give us the recipe”.
You’re right, good idea!

But this post is already too long so head to the link in the comments where I’m going to start putting all my recipes so that they’re more easily accessible for you guys to make these delicious goodies 🤤
Also, I promise to post the recipe first and a bunch of rambling nutrition information after it so that if you only want the recipe, you don’t have to do a bunch of scrolling just to find it. Because I’m nice like that, ya welcome 🙏🏼

Taco Tuesday is everyday this week!! My meal prep lunches are taco bowls. Like a taco 🌮 only without the shell or wrap.

I cooked up some red rice and mixed that with organic red kidney beans. Chopped up some lettuce, avocado and tomato.
For the most delicious part I chopped chicken breasts and fried it with onion, capsicum, organic tin tomatoes, cumin, paprika, and oregano.

I sectioned everything into containers (froze the chicken separately so it stayed fresh for the week), and the night before I cut the avocado 🥑 and tomato 🍅 so that they are nice and fresh for my lunch. Otherwise the rice, beans and lettuce keep just fine in a container.
It’s been delicious 🤤

OVERNIGHT OATS WITH STEWED APPLES 🍏🍎

If you’re someone who’s pretty time poor in the morning, someone who wants to get a good carb hit in after the gym in the morning, or just someone who likes eating delicious things. This one is for you!

Ingredients:
Oats
Almond milk (or milk of choice)
Cinnamon
Apples (stewed)
Walnuts
Dried apricot
Date
Sliced almonds

The first thing you’ll need to do is stew some apples. So choose your favourite (pink ladies, obviously 🙄), peel them, core them, slice them, and boil them with a bit of water at the bottom of the pot (you will burn the pot otherwise) until they’re mushy. If you wish you can add a little honey.
Next you want a jar and in this jar place 1/2 cup of oats, 1/2 cup of milk, as much cinnamon as your heart desires (about 1/2 tsp) and mix them together. From here add a heaped 1/2 cup of your stewed apples and mix in. For the topping, break up about 7 walnuts and place on top, followed by 2 chopped dried apricots, 1 chopped date and a sprinkle of sliced almonds. Pop the lid on and put in fridge overnight and she’ll be ready to enjoy by the morning! 🙌🏼

For anyone who is curious the macro breakdown is roughly:
Calories - 425
Carbs - 48g
Protein - 9.5g
Fat - 19.5g
If you were wanting this to be a bit heavier in protein I’d recommend adding a scoop of vanilla flavoured

Happy overnight oating 😁

Meal Prepping - something that sounds like it takes a lot of organisation and work, but the reality is that it saves you a lot of time and money during the week.
Let’s be honest, how many of us get to mid week and just don’t even want to have to think about what they’re making for every meal anymore 🙋🏻‍♀️

The second picture is how I planned my week this week. All my breakfasts are the same, all my lunches are similar, and I chose all my dinners in advance. Then all I had to do was go to the supermarket, prep a few things and my whole week was ready!
This means no daily trips to the supermarket, no need to spend extra money going out for lunches, and I don’t have to think about a single thing I’m eating or cooking because I’m already organised.
It also stops me from eating foods I know will just make me feel yuck because I’ve already got my meals made up and in quantities I know will fill me up.

Maybe this is something that could help you too, so make a list for yourself and let me know what difference it makes to your week ☀️ happy meal prepping
