FINE MOTOR FOCUS ✏️

A focus on fine motor skills is now more important than ever! In a world driven by technology, the opportunities for us to engage in meaningful occupations with our hands is declining. With a gadget for this, computer for that we have become more sedentary, including our kids!

That’s why encouraging hands-on play – building with blocks, drawing, cooking, or even helping out on the farm – is so incredibly valuable.

It’s not just play, it’s skills for life. 🌟

OUTREACH FRIDAYS ☔️

A wild and windy trip north today, windscreen wipers on from 6:30am and until I pulled into Balak this afternoon at 4!

So grateful for the widespread rain 🌧️

🌟 Important Update on NDIS Changes 🌟

As we prepare for the upcoming term, we want to acknowledge that the recent changes to NDIS, particularly around travel, have taken some time to fully comprehend and navigate. It's been a challenging process, but we are committed to continuing to advocate for our rural clients and the unique needs of our regions.

These changes are not just administrative - they have a real impact on the viability of travelling allied health businesses, and ultimately on the equity and availability of services for people living in our region. Rural and remote communities often face barriers to accessing essential care, and these new cuts may make it even harder to reach those who need us the most. The anxiety and pressure for rural providers is incredibly significant.

We know that this is a tough landscape for everyone, and we kindly ask for patience and understanding as we, and other allied health NDIS providers, work through these adjustments. We are all dedicated to providing the best possible care, and your support means the world to us.

Thank you for being part of our community. We've got this!

20 YEARS 📚 👩‍🎓
That went quickly! 20 years in this life changing profession today and I’m forever grateful.
Thank you to all the amazing clients and families that have journeyed with me over the years x

On a trip back from Foodland today my little client pointed out the most beautiful parrots sitting on the power line watching the rain roll in. She had an amazing eye to spot them, in a break between trees, with the second one in her favourite because of its beautiful bright belly. 🦜

Neurodivergent individuals, like those with autism or ADHD, often experience heightened sensitivity to visual stimuli. While places like shopping centers or crowded spaces can lead to visual overload, the unique ability to see the world in vivid detail allows them to notice beauty others might overlook—like these stunning birds on a rainy day. 🌈"

I’m so grateful ❤️

T H A N K ❤️ Y O U

A huge thanks to all my beautiful clients and families for their patience and support over the last month whilst I have been really unwell with COVID, Pneumonia and then a broken toe 🙈

Gradually returning back into it tomorrow as I’m still managing pretty significant fatigue, but will be back on deck in a reduced capacity for a couple of weeks.

See you soon ✈️

LFOT SERVICE UPDATE

Living Free OT will remain closed and approximately reopen in Week 3 of Term 1 after a horrible dose of COVID and now pneumonia for the summer break. It will take a while to build my strength back but hopefully back soon enough 🙏

Seems my last post and positive spin on the year came crashing pretty quickly 🙈

Thank you for your understanding,

OUT OF OFFICE 🏖️
In so many of our roles we pour out.
Into our work, our community, our families, our sporting clubs. By years end we often run on empty, so it’s time to fill that ☕️.

As an Occupational Therapist early on in our degree we are introduced to Occupational Balance. Occupational balance is a relative state, recognizable by a happy or pleasant integration of life activities and demands, simply put it’s the balance between work, life and play. Something I have struggled to do in 2024 (if you talk to my Mum you will know this is a common annual theme 😂).

My goal for 2025 is to restore this balance to make sure I’m doing the best work I can, for as long as I can, for the community I love.

Take a break, learn an instrument, read the book, book the massage….self care is a form of self preservation and enables you to ‘pour out’ and do the amazing work you do ❤️

Thank you for your support in 2024 ☕️
