What You'll Be Doing...

🖊Reporting to the General Manager Biomedical Engineering, you will work closely with the Research and Development Team on a variety of projects, providing assessments and insights, creating designs and recommending improvements for Vitrafy’s new and existing products and systems.

🖊You will also be responsible for performing maintenance, repairs and operational testing and assisting clinical staff and other stakeholders in the proper handling and maintenance of systems and equipment, as required.

What You'll Need To Have...

📐Self-starters with an entrepreneurial spirit and excellent written, and verbal communication skills
📐Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related degree in Engineering Technology from an accredited program
📐3+ years of industrial refrigeration engineering experience
📐Previous experience in the Biomedical, Scientific Research or Healthcare Sector will be highly regarded

📐Experience in designing HVAC systems and using simulation tools to select components and analyse data on heat transfer and thermodynamics.

Ballarat Tech School recently hosted the Peter Doherty Science Awards, a science competition for local Ballarat and regional students from years 7-10.

Vitrafy were proud to sponsor the awards again this year, where students research to solve an everyday problem using the scientific method, applying rigour to communicate their findings.

It was a truly inspiring and entertaining evening as students from Ballarat Grammar, Ballarat High School, Good Shepherd College Hamilton and Marian College Ararat competed against each other delivering presentations from stage, articulating their findings and reflecting on their learning.

Again, this year we had a seat on the judging panel and it was such a tough decision to decide the overall winner as the level of thought, research, exploration and delivery of findings was high.

The scientific projects were:

"Does the cost of sanitary pads affect their absorbency?"
"Does milk act as a good stain remover?"
"Would you be dryer by walking or running in the rain?"
"What is the most hygenic way to dry your hands?"
"Does the price of sunscreen affect the amount of UV protection it provides?"

Congratulations goes to Ballarat High School who were crowned overall winners for their research into "Would you be dryer by walking or running in the rain?".

Today and tomorrow, we’re hosting some local secondary school students who get to tour our facilities and learn about what we do, as part of The Girls in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math's) program with Ballarat Tech School.

Not only is this a great opportunity for the students to see women working in STEM roles and hearing directly from them, but it’s also a great opportunity for us as we’re great supporters of STEM and are keen to invest in our local young people and share potential future employment opportunities for these students that exist right here in Ballarat.

Thanks to the students and their schools who came through and to Ballarat Tech School for providing the opportunity to connect girls in STEM with women in STEM.
