🟡It’s Endometriosis Awareness Month⬆️

🔵Endometriosis is a common disease where cells, similar to those found in the uterus, develop outside it, and in other parts of the body. Endometriosis affects 1 in 7 people with a uterus, and typically affects the reproductive organs.

🟡More than 50% of people with a uterus who present with fertility problems have endometriosis. Laparoscopic surgery with excision of endometriosis is the best treatment option. Following surgery, hormone treatment may be required.

🔵IUI or IVF may be offered by your Fertility Specialist in order to achieve a pregnancy. However, many people with endometriosis are also able to conceive naturally, or with the assistance of ovulation induction.

🟡Success rates depend on individual age, history and the type of operative treatment required. It is important for people with endometriosis to work closely with their health care providers to manage their symptoms, and to ensure the best possible outcomes for their fertility and pregnancy.

➡️ 🎄The Festive Season🎄⬅️

Navigating infertility and the silly season can be challenging to say the least 🙃

It’s ok not to be ok - even at Christmas time. In fact, it’s usually those pokey questions from relatives and unexpected pregnancy announcements that can catch you off guard.

A reminder to be kind to yourself, so kind that you absolutely need another slice of pavlova when aunty Karen brings up your biological clock, again.

Here’s 5 tips for getting through ⬆️

We hope this helps.
May the force be with you, we are thinking of you all 😘

➡️ The Beauty of a Blastocyst ⬅️

Let’s talk about the beautiful group of cells that make up a blastocyst!

As anyone who has had anything to do with IVF knows, precious blastocysts are not easy to come by.

But what is so special about them?

For a blastocyst to have the ability to go on and form a pregnancy, there are three key criteria:

🔵Inner Cell Mass: This goes on to form the baby.

🔵 Trophectoderm: The cells which go on to form the placenta.

🔵 Fluid Filled Cavity: This structure allows the embryo to hatch out of its shell and implant into the uterus.

Only blastocysts with these components are transferred or frozen for future use at Ballarat IVF.

Ballarat IVF is Regional Victoria’s only full time fertility service.

Located in Ballarat, Ballarat IVF is easily accessible by couples from Geelong and greater Melbourne, as well as those from Western Victoria.

Ballarat IVF was established by Medical Director, Dr Russell Dalton in 2002, with a strong focus on personalized fertility care. Dr Dalton leads a caring, highly trained team who work together to help people achieve their dream of becoming parents. Our Reception staff, Fertility Specialists, Nurses and Scientists aim to ensure that all patients who use our service are fully informed and supported as they receive the very best of fertility care. Most couples attending Ballarat IVF for fertility problems are able to have a baby without IVF. We work carefully with patients to identify their particular fertility issues, as each couple hoping to have a baby is different, with a range of possible factors leading to their lack of success. Often by thorough assessment and individualized treatment, a pregnancy can be achieved without more involved therapy. When you attend Ballarat IVF for fertility advice, you will receive individualized treatment, with a Fertility treatment plan formulated on the most current research based information.
