I'm not sure about you, but sometimes things seem to just zip along. Life can be fast! Especially when we are in a 'just get it done' type of space. The kind of space where we don't feel like we can stop and smell the roses, or attend to our own physical, emotional, or psychological needs because those of others seem to be more pressing.

Thursday nights are an opportunity to slow things down and play a little catch-up on the 'me time'. Come and join us for a relaxation flow that will help you tune into to you:

*6.15pm - 7pm Reset & relax class ($15pp, limited availability)
*8.00pm - 8.45pm Virtual Chill Pill, Zoom class ($15 or what you can/want, places available).

Face to face classes at 21 Main Rd, Bakery Hill (in The Hub)
*Bring what you might need to feel comfortable - yoga mats, bolsters, cushions, blankets, tissues, drink bottles, and journals welcome.

Private breath, mindfulness, clinical relaxation, somatic awareness, and bodywork sessions by appointment at 833 Geelong Rd (enter via Milverton Lane and message on arrival).

Message or contact 0419181869 to book and receive payment and/or Zoom links.

A lot of my work involves touch! For those of you seeing my recent bodywork posts, that might seem obvious, but many of the other modalities I use, may also end up including a comforting hand to hold, or being placed with care, and hugs are also something I am comfortable with when it seems appropriate, but...

The intimacy of this work is not lost on me, nor is my white, middle-aged, able-bodied, cis-gendered male social status, with extra power based in the skills I offer. So, I was really excited to come across the Wheel of Consent by long-time bodyworker and intimacy professional Dr Betty Martin to help negotiate this.

I won't go on about it too much here, other than to use it to offer up some language for us to use in our work together, so you feel confident and empowered to get as much out of any sessions as possible, and most of all, to feel safe!

If you don't feel safe, nothing is likely to help you feel better!

Here goes:

*Will you? (If there is something you want or like, you can ask, and I will respond with an action or reason. This might work in reverse with something like, 'may I', or, 'are you OK with?')

*No. (If your mind or body say no, I will respect that. Hopefully, this is reciprocal.)

*Yes. (In a bodywork session, this may be assumed, given the reason you booked, but you can change this to a no at any time. I might also use it at my discretion to respond to a request, but I will try to explain this, as I try to do with my choices, as much as possible.)

*Yes, but... (Perhaps the idea is right, but the position, speed, depth, etc, are not. You have permission to adjust the settings within my capabilities. After all, the treatment is mostly for you. Mostly? Well, I enjoy the work too, or I wouldn't do it, but the wheel of consent can help us clarify details about who, what is for, along the way too.)

*More. (If something is working for you, within the scope of the appointed time, you can ask for more of it.)

I hope that's helpful for you to get the best out of your time with me.

Hi Team, I have a short work shift on Monday morning, so will be home for the rest of the day. If you were considering an afternoon or evening bodywork, breathwork, or clinical relaxation treatment on your day off, I am happy to accommodate at my standard rates.
Just let me know.

Last night, I did a little bit of work on the neck of one of our caravan park neighbours. At the time I just knew they were have some trouble with it. This morning, they approached me to say thanks, as it was the first sleep they had had in a while, that wasn't interrupted by pain. Then they told me that something else unusual happened and they wondered whether it was related. At night, they'd been having 'vertigo' like symptoms when they rolled over, so had been needing to sit up and stabilise, before turning over in bed, which was very irritating to them. Last night, there were none of these symptoms.

Great! And yes, this was related. Our sub-occipital muscles, which I worked on amongst others, are very densely innervated. They operate in concert with our eyes, and are an important part of our proprioceptive system. When they are not functioning well, due to poor posture or injury, they are known to cause headaches and cervicogenic (neck related) dizziness. They send conflicting messages to the brain about their orientation in space and generally make our nervous system work harder to interpret messages, so they may also contribute to ongoing fatigue and brain fog.

I was happy to call that one a win.

Our bodies deal with a lot.

Long hours at work, exercise routines, busy families, busy minds, and in Ballarat, huge temperature swings that can tighten everything up.

Most people think tight muscles need more pressure, but often what they really need is to feel safe.

When we combine breathwork and other neuro-regulation tools with bodywork, something shifts.

Your eyes relax.
Your jaw softens.
Your ribs expand.
Your shoulders stop bracing.

That’s when the treatment can go deeper — without needing to be forced.

Breathwork amplifies bodywork because it allows your body to participate in the release, not resist it.

Developing a toolkit of nervous-system regulation techniques empowers you to support your recovery and wellbeing before and after treatments.

Its time to show yourself some compassion and challenge the "push through until you can't" attitude, that you know isn't doing you any favours. Book your session or program now.

Hi Team, we are making good progress on the clinic space.
Hopefully, it will be functional for bodywork again within a couple of weeks.
After that, there'll be plenty more to do to beautify it and make it usable for floor, small group and, biofeedback work, but it shouldn't take too long.
Getting excited!
