Pain is one of many "outputs" that are designed to protect us. It is dynamic, intelligent, and real. It is determined by our bodies total assessment of threat. Everything that our nervous system has experienced and is experiencing, impacts on pain and the many other so called, negative outputs we might experience. I'm talking about things like restricted movement, dizziness, fatigue, low mood, increased fear etc.
In the Thursday night Relaxation classes, it's not uncommon for people to leave in less pain than they arrive because classes include many signals of "safety", turn down some physiological markers of stress, and sometimes, deal with specific stressors to the systems of people in the room. This reduces perceived threat (by the nervous system, not necessarily conscious thoughts).
Class work can then be extended with one-to-one sessions for those who see the benefits and possibilities of working with the nervous-system with drills and manual therapy.
Why not choose to chill this Thursday?:

We have a body with a 'resource budget'. As we move through life and respond to all that comes our way, our body learns and makes predictions about what it needs to survive in the next moment. Our responses draw from that resource pool. When you are perpetually stressed, it can deplete a lot of resources!
Thoughts, emotions, sensations, aimed at navigating life, come from the same budget. Why not come along to a session where your system starts to predict rest and relaxation and allows you to conserve some of those important resources for when you really need them?

Beginning a bodywork session with some focused sensory awareness activities and breathwork, is an amazing way to get out of your head and drop your awareness to the place it's needed, deeply into your body. Buy yourself some time to "go deep".

I really think it's important to practice what you preach, so I don't offer up advice or treatments that I don't, or wouldn't take myself. I also prioritise breaks and downtime when I need them.
That being said, our annual, 12 week, caravan park mini-season ends on the last weekend of this month. That means I will be opening some weekend appointment spaces up on a case by case basis after the end of April.
If it works for you, and slots in around my other commitments, I will be very happy to support you with some relaxation treatments or strategies that I use, are well researched, and/or have extensive histories of beneficial outcomes behind them, on weekends soon.

For those of you wondering where the private clinic is, it 833 Geelong Rd. Park around in Milverton Lane and then wander back to the small gate on Geelong Road.
It's the room on the right of the picture. It has its own entrance, so no need to worry about heading through our personal space.

For awhile, I worked as a casual academic in business and marketing. Expectancy theory was regularly in my tutorials. The idea, that if the outcome is above expectation, the receiver is more like to experience delight. If you set an expectation and don't meet it, they are disappointed, and if you meet the expectation, they are generally satisfied, but in a neutral kind of way. So the expectation impacts heavily on the result.
This reminds me of how our nervous systems work when it comes to pain and other seemingly negative outputs. We are designed to take in information and use it to predict the future, in order to stay safe. External and even internal messaging can have a huge impact on your experience.
If you take in a whole bunch of data that suggests a situation is dangerous, or painful, or limiting etc, this information lands much more deeply than you might recognise and forms a part of our prediction about the result. This mostly happens beneath our level of awareness.
So, take care in researching the worst case scenarios on your socials, take care with whom you absorb information from, and for the good friends and therapists out there, take care of how you share information as it really matters to the outcomes of those you might be trying to help.
The data you absorb or provide can greatly impact the expectations of nervous systems and those expectations impact on predictions, which the body starts to work with immediately to shape the future.

I just found this attached to an earlier post.
It's nice when you land on the right recipe for someone!
See you all again after the break (back in action from April 9th).

Thank you Simon Carroll for attending to my neck issue. After discussions you had with me you recognised the vertigo motions I had been experiencing and then explained what was needed to rectify the condition. Also ensuring I had given you permission before you proceeded and you made me feel comfortable and reassured me with your professionalism. The results have been amazing. It's now been about a month and there has been no reoccurence since this treatment. I highly recommend Simon to anyone who as issues with movement and anxiety with his massage and breath work. From a very happy client 😊 Bron

Hi Team, Just a heads up that I am away for a week from April 2nd until April the 8th.
I look forward to catching up for classes and other bookings upon my return.

We had a nice class tonight. A couple of things that pop up from time to time are pain relief and improved mobility.
Class is upstairs and watching the climb gives me a moment to assess some aspects of gait and comfort. Tonight wasn't the first night that people have climbed up the stairs looking one way, and climbed down moving very differently. Sometimes the climbers are aware of the change and sometimes they need to have it pointed out to them before they realise.
Forty-five minutes of conscious awareness training, breathwork, nervous system regulation, mindfulness, and meditation can make a massive difference to peoples physical and psychological experiences.
It's really cool to be a part of.
