Dr Adam Girardin is joining the Doveton St UFS Medical Centre and is welcoming new patients.

Dr Girardin is a Fellow with the RACGP with advanced training in Emergency Medicine, Skin Cancer Surgery and Women's Health. Originally from Canada, he graduated from Monash University in 2018 and has conducted his training across rural Victoria. His interests include chronic disease, skin lesions and their removal, newborns, aged care and everything in between.

Dr Girardin will be seeing patients on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

If you or a family member needs urgent care over the Easter long weekend, Ballarat's Medicare Urgent Care Clinic (also known as Ballarat Priority Primary Care Centre) is open from 10am to 10pm EVERY day.
You’ll find us at: Ground Floor - 4 Windermere Street, Ballarat.

We offer urgent care to treat illnesses and injuries that can’t wait for a GP appointment but are not life-threatening. This includes things like minor fractures, sprains, minor infections, respiratory illnesses, mild burns, severe stomach pains, or urinary tract infections. The service is bulk-billed and no appointment is required.

Leave certificates are conveniently available from your local UFS Pharmacy 😷

If you need to take time off work because you are unwell, or if you need to take carer’s leave because you are caring for a member of your immediate family or household, your local UFS Pharmacist can provide you with an Absence from Work Certificate for Personal Leave or a Certificate for Carer’s Leave.

The fee for this service is $35, or $28 for UFS members.

A couple of important things to note about the absence from work certificates:
• Certificates are issued at the pharmacists’ discretion.
• Pharmacists can only issue certificates for conditions that are within their scope of practice, such as minor ailments. If your illness or injury is outside a pharmacist’s ability to assess, they will refer you to a doctor or other relevant healthcare professional.
• Certificates can be issued for short periods of leave only.
• Certificates cannot be backdated.
• You may be asked for a form of identification (ID).
• If you need a Carer’s Leave Certificate, the person who is ill must be with you at the consultation.
• Consultations for these certificates are conducted in the pharmacy by a UFS Pharmacist, and may vary in length.
• These certificates cannot be provided for absences relating to pregnancy or compassionate leave.
• Available at all UFS Pharmacies – no appointment required

If you have chest pain, the ED should always be your first port of call. There’s no charge for treatment at the PPCC, whether you have a Medicare card or not!
