The human hippocampus produces new neurons throughout life, this process is called neurogenesis. Previously it was thought that this process plummeted after middle age, however it has now been shown that neurons continue to produce at a fairly even rate throughout life.
So what is the key? đ
Maintaining brain health - and therefore systemic health of all tissues. Reducing inflammatory processes and providing the right conditions for healthy neuronal synthesis.
We have an opportunity to maximise healthy brain cell turnover PREINJURY, at the time of INJURY and at any point POST-INJURY. Because the body is always working to heal itself, the moment we support it and give it the parameters it needs to thrive means that we positively influence outcomes.
