💜 Communication Tip #3: Check for understanding

Clear communication means making sure everyone is on the same page. Misunderstandings often happen when we assume others know what we mean or have the same background information.

✅ Try this:

Summarise key points back to the person: “So just to confirm, you’d like me to…”

Ask: “Does that make sense?” or “Can I check I’ve got this right?”

Encourage others to do the same with you.

It’s a simple step that saves time, reduces frustration, and makes sure nothing important gets missed.

🌟 The Great Chase 2025 🌟

On Friday, our crew had the opportunity to join in on the fun of The Great Chase, hosted by Greyhound Racing Victoria 🐾. This wonderful event has been bringing people of all abilities together for more than 20 years, creating days filled with excitement, connection, and community.

Our team came home with HUGE smiles, colourful face paint 🎨, and plenty of stories to share… and we were thrilled to bring back a $2000 cheque for Unbeatable Abilities! 💜🙌

A massive thank you to Greyhound Racing Victoria for hosting such an inclusive and uplifting event, and to our participants and staff for making the day one to remember. 💫

Listening Without Judgment

One of the greatest gifts you can give someone is your full attention, without jumping in to judge, interrupt, or “fix” their problem.

When we listen with empathy:
✨ People feel valued and understood
✨ Trust and respect grow
✨ Our team culture becomes stronger and more supportive

👉 Try this tip: Next time someone is sharing, focus on hearing their perspective first. You can simply say: “I hear you” or “Thank you for sharing that with me.” Often, being heard is more powerful than advice.

We are so proud of Elisha, who has just completed her very first patchwork quilt as part of our sewing program! 🧵✨

Elisha and her support worker Simone showed incredible perseverance, overcoming sewing machine hiccups and staying committed until every last square was stitched together. The result? A magnificent quilt that is not only beautiful but also a testament to her hard work, patience, and growing confidence.
