📣Nurtured Mothers Wellbeing is now accepting referrals under Three Lions Psychology and Consulting. My commitment and passion for supporting Mothers and Women remains strong, but I want to ensure that all clients, including those who may not identify as Mothers or Women, feel included.

I’ll be continuing to be active under Nurtured Mothers on Instagram and my website will remain live. As part of this transition, I’ll gradually be moving to a new email address, and communication with clients, GPs and administration will be under the Three Lions Psychology & Consulting branding.

If you are looking for support, I am currently accepting new referrals with limited wait times 💫

Hi everyone 👋, It’s been a while since I’ve checked in. I’ve been settling into my new space and I must admit, it’s something special! I hope my clients feel the warmth and compassion the space holds as much as I do.

I’ve also been working to find the right balance between work, Motherhood and life more broadly. As a result, it will likely be quiet here as I focus on supporting clients, being present with family and engaging in things that meaningful to me.

Although it may be quiet here, I’m still just as passionate about supporting women and mothers with their mental health and wellbeing. You may like to reach out if you are having difficulty with things like:
⁃ Anxiety and Depression
⁃ Emotion regulation
⁃ Overwhelm, Anger, Guilt and Shame
⁃ Grief, Loss and Trauma
⁃ Identity
⁃ Perfectionism
⁃ Navigating transitions (adolescence and Matrescence)
⁃ Parenting
⁃ And more

Medicare rebates are available with Mental Health Care Plans, GP Pregnancy Counseling referrals and Chronic Disease Management Plans. Speak to your GP to find out more (mhcp appointments require a long booking).

It’s been a while since my last introduction so I thought I’d reintroduce myself! I’m Erryn 👋 Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AMHSW), and Motherhood Studies Practitioner.

Nurtured Mothers Wellbeing is a space for Mothers and Women to be held, heard and provided a safe haven to explore their matrescence, navigation of motherhood, mental health and wellbeing.

I am currently accepting new clients (at a new room, woo!). If you are looking for support or if you know of anyone who is seeking support feel free to reach out for a chat. I accept a range of referrals (inc. self referrals and mental health care plans).

You may seek support for
📍Depression & Anxiety
📍Matrescence & Adjustment to Motherhood (and each stage along the way)
📍Identity & Self Esteem
📍Grief, Loss & Birth Trauma
📍Overwhelm, Anger, guilt and Shame
📍Trauma Informed Postpartum Planning
📍Support to Return to Work/navigating this transition
📍Parenting support (circle of security & emotion coaching)
➡️ And more, as we rarely fit into a single category..

Predominantly, my work is provided 1:1 but I also enjoy facilitating groups that create opportunities for Mothers, Women and Parents to come together to normalise, validate and explore common challenges. I have an upcoming group - Release, about all things anger, guilt and shame coming up in March (link in bio).

Outside of work you’ll find me chasing my little human around, adventuring with family, connecting with friends, watching tv shows (many on repeat) and learning new things. Beyond this, passion lies in supporting Mothers and Women.

I’m glad you’ve found your way here and hope that the content I share is helpful wherever you are in your journey.

Erryn x

Today I took my little human to the beach for the first time. It’s also the first time I’ve been to the beach as a Mum. I’ve just caught myself reflecting on this, my matrescence, and identity.

Compared to the last time I was at the beach, I feel that I am now an entirely different person. I am now a Mother but there are so many parts of me. I’m still transitioning into my Mother part, arguably my matrescence is only just beginning.

Many Mothers feel lost and experience mood changes in the transition. From the lens of Matrescence it is absolutely understandable that we feel disorientated, as we navigate that delicate dance between who we were pre-motherhood and who we are now. Matrescence is a developmental period, likened to adolescence.

It is huge.

It not only encompasses the identity shift, but hormonal, physical, spiritual, social, cultural and emotional changes too! A total shift in perspective, identity and self. It is no wonder that this time is full of ambivalence, seemingly conflicting emotions of intense love to grief, sadness and frustration (often at the same time).

If you feel this, or are struggling, know you aren’t alone. A lot of Mums and new parents, are feeling the same or similar way. Know that there are supports available for you along the way. If you’re not sure where to start, feel free to reach out to start a conversation.

Since completing ’s Motherhood Studies Certification I talk a lot about Mothers, Mothering and Motherhood. Have you ever thought about the difference between the three?

📍Mother refers to self, your identity as an individual. It is not bound by the number of children you see. It includes things like Matrescence, mental health, emotional regulation, body changes, identity and value shifts.

📍Mothering refers to the doing the practice of being a mother. It is a skill and a labour. Includes things like feeding, playing, learning about child and infant sleep, attachment and bonding, washing, planning and the mental load. See post on intensive mothering ideology for more on this one.

📍Motherhood refers to the environment or the structure we are within. Including noticing and bringing awareness of the perfect mother myth and patriarchal motherhood, exploring our expectations of mothering and motherhood, navigating friendships and relationships, social supports, careers and work, and purposely aligning with our values.

Each of the above are interrelated and we all experience each differently. We face our own individual challenges and wins along the way. Breaking down terminology allows us to address the multiple facets of being a Mother and can help us address shame, blame and guilt that pops up along the way.

If you’re looking for support in 2024 I am now accepting referrals. Feel free to reach out for more information or head to the website 💫

30/12/2023

The pressure to be the ‘Perfect Mother’ in our society is overwhelming. Whether it comes to the Mothering, being a Mother, how our children behave, or whether we work or don’t (the list goes on!).

This shows up in the ‘Shoulds’, ‘musts’ and ‘oughts’ we often tell ourselves. For example..
💁‍♀️ “I should always love being a Mum”
💁‍♀️ “I should be breastfeeding”
💁‍♀️ “I should make more nutritious food”
💁‍♀️ “I should play more games”
💁‍♀️ “I should stop the screen time”
💁‍♀️ “I should have sleep trained”
💁‍♀️ “I should have bounced back by now”

The ‘Perfect Mother’ is a myth and completely unattainable but leaves us feeling a lot of guilt and shame.

Good enough is enough. Our children don’t need us to be perfect and it is actually unhelpful for them if we were! Good enough means doing our best to meet our child’s needs and knowing we are going to make mistakes. It is actually in these mistakes, when we ‘fail’ our children, that we help them grow, develop and understand repair.

In 2024, give yourself permission to be Good Enough. Because you are enough.
