If you are interested in complete wellbeing, managing anxiety/stress, and learning skills to bring more peacefulness into your life, read on. Yoga does not only include physical postures that are amazing for flexibility, strength, endurance, health, and wellbeing. The physical practice of yoga was designed to prepare the body and mind for meditation, so we also practice pranayama (breathing patter

ns), meditation, deep relaxation, and philosophy. The end goal is to be physically well, to access profoundly nourishing and healing states, and to increase our capacity and skills to manage the challenges of life and the mind. The practices of yoga address the whole self, inclusive of your body, mind, emotions, and spirit. They offer healing and potential for elevation of consciousness, in a totally non-religious, non-dogmatic way. Just a method developed over thousands of years that works. I have been practicing yoga and meditation for 15+ years and it has transformed my life. Yoga has facilitated my recovery from anxiety and has helped me heal and manage physical injuries. As I negotiate single full-time mothering and my day job as a secondary school music teacher, yoga helps me manage the fluctuations of my mind and heart. I am so passionate about the transformational practices of yoga that I finally bit the bullet and did a 200hr Yoga Teacher Training in 2022 to become a yoga teacher. Yoga starts back Thursday 1st February and I'm excited to announce that this term I will be running two 4-week courses (though if you can't make it regularly they can be attended as stand alone classes too!).

The first runs 1 - 22 Feb and covers all things spine, back and core! Develop your core and back strength, explore back bending safely, understand alignment, learn postures for good digestion, and much more. Classes are sequential and designed to build your knowledge and practice each week, but can be attended casually if you can't make it to every class.

Of course we will address flexibility and strength in the whole body too, as well as all the usual things - breathing, some yin yoga postures, steadying the mind, and relaxation.

The second four weeks of term 1 will be all about hips, glutes and legs - more on that to come!

I had to put my fees up this year, but if you pay for the term, it works out to be one if the most affordable classes you'll find!

Thursdays 5:15pm - 6:15pm
Uniting Care Building Ballarat East

4 week course fee $72/$64 ($18/$16 per class)
Whole term (both 4 week courses) $128/$112 ($16/$14 per class)
Casual class pass $22/$20

It helps sustain health, strengthens and stretches the body, assists in negotiating the fluctuations of the mind and heart, and can foster an unshakeable sense of connection to yourself and the world around you. Attendees report feeling blissed out at the end of each class.

Balance is something I've been reflecting on a lot recently. I used to attempt to balance my life horizontally, by planning tasks and times perfectly across the week, but this would always fall apart if I was too tired or stressed. I'm working on less planning tasks and more inner balance and stillness now. "There is no such thing as work-life balance - it is all life. The balance has to be within you" - Sadhguru.

Part of this is finding the balance between effort and surrender, holding on and letting go, strength and softness.

This Thursday's yoga class will be all about balance in body, mind and spirit. Suitable for beginners with some more advanced options on offer for experienced yogis.

Thursday 5:30 - 6:30pm in the Uniting Care building, room 7, on the corner of Queen St and Dyte Pde Ballarat East (across the road from Ballarat Community Gardens). $15/$13. Bookings essential by sending me a private message and payment is requested by direct deposit prior to the class.

Yoga classes are kicking off next week! This weekly nourishing Gentle Flow class is suitable for beginners with some more advanced options on offer for experienced yogis.

They will take place every Thursday 5:30 - 6:30pm in the Uniting Care building, room 7, on the corner of Queen St and Dyte Pde Ballarat East (across the road from Ballarat Community Gardens). $15/$13 for a casual visit as I'm keen for this class to be accessible and affordable. Update: I'm so looking forward to starting regular yoga classes. I have found an AMAZING space that is perfect for yoga. I'm currently in the process of confirming use of this space and all the associated practicalities. Have had some great conversations about collaborating to offer accessible and inclusive yoga classes. Feeling really excited to share this with you soon!
