Diabetes Education To Assist - DETA Ballarat DETA strives to enhance the lives of people with diabetes through support & diabetes self empowerment

DETA Ballarat commenced diabetes services in 2009, and have provided extensive diabetes education services to people in the Ballarat and surrounding communities. Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) services are provided by Credentialled Diabetes Educator Sheree Rennie, a fellow person with Type 1 diabetes. Sheree provides diabetes self-management education (DSME) to empower people with diabe

tes in the community to meet the challenges and instill confidence in managing their diabetes and daily living activities. This will enable them to;

*Make decisions on how to best manage their diabetes
*Make appropriate food choices
*Carry out regular blood glucose testing
*Incorporate physical activity into their daily lives
*Incorporate strategies to prevent and reduce the risk of developing diabetes related complications
*Manage diabetes sick days and hyperglycaemia and hypoglycaemia events
*Make beneficial lifestyle and behavioral changes
*Manage their emotional health along with daily tasks of family, health, work and social activities

Appointments & Fees

Appointments are charged on the day of appointment and if a current Enhanced Primary Care Plan has been supplied; Medicare will reimburse $52.95 for each visit providing you have not exceeded 5 Allied Health visits per calendar year.
