Burping can be a big part of newborns. It is part technique, part timing, part a baby’s individual anatomy.
Babies wont always need a burp but its traditional to offer a burp in the middle and end of feeds. If your baby will not stop mid feed ( between sides when breastfeeding halfway through a bottle volume ) that’s okay try at the end. The odd baby, especially after crying will burp pre feed. Often even when you are not trying any burping they will burp with handling.
It is more offering an opportunity rather than a task to achieve. Sometimes they will burp, sometimes not and thats okay.
Only a small portion of babies show that unless they burp they will not settle, this is where you would spend a little longer trying. Otherwise a few minutes opportunity and move on.
At 12 weeks they have got the hang of their digestive system better and they pretty much burp themselves. Yay! 💨

🤰🏼clear the car of food
🤰🏼Allow 2.5 hours
🤰🏼Take phone laptop or something else to fill in the time
🤰🏼Have something with non processed slow release carbs or protein to get your sugar levels stabilised again afterwards 😊
If this test is positive please don’t be alarmed, it is not uncommon and your OGB team are skilled and relaxed and leading you through management and the next steps.

Constipation!
How glam, but such a common symptom beginning quite early in pregnancy. 🤷‍♀️
Its caused through the action of great pregnancy hormones relaxing the muscles that move things along our bowel.
To help prevent or manage top tips:
☝️drink plenty of water, take that water bottle everywhere 🥤
☝️food with plenty of plant based fibre rather than fibre supplements 🥗
☝️pear juice, cloudy of often best but whatever you can drink 🍹
☝️honour the urge to go
☝️knees higher than hips ,lean forward and “ooooooooooo” 👄
☝️movicol may be needed ocassionally or in some cases regularly or on and off - chat with your OGB doc or midwife about how this is going for you.
