It is with great joy and enthusiasm that I, Kate Skilbeck, will be running another Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program (MBSR) over 8 weeks commencing in Ballarat on Monday 16 October, 2017.
Mindfulness is a form of meditation that has shown through extensive research to help reduce anxiety, depression, stress, managing chronic pain, help manage difficult emotions more productively and lead participants to experience a fuller, healthier and potentially happier life.
Mindfulness is increasingly being integrated into a variety of medical, educational and business settings. The Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Program, developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the internationally acclaimed Centre For Mindfulness (CFM), University of Massachusetts Medical School, is the oldest and largest Mindfulness-Based Intervention (MBI), upon which many other MBI’s are based.
By the end of the 8-week program, participants will have developed a daily personal mindfulness practice – the necessary foundation upon which to integrate mindfulness into their professional and personal lives.
This 8-week intensive program will run on Monday evenings, 6:30- 9:00pm, from 16 October through until 11 December, plus one full day on Saturday 25 November, 2017.
I have been facilitating the MBSR with people from all walks of life and look forward to embarking on another journey with a new group of participants who are keen to incorporate mindfulness principles and practices into their personal and professional lives.
When asked, “what has changed for you doing this Mindfulness based course?”, two participants said:
“I have a greater awareness of the choices I make – and I can choose to be more present in each moment.”
“I have a fresh outlook to my life. I am now a better person to lead my children through childhood, and have an ability to calm myself and appreciate myself.”
