Exercise Physiologists study how the body’s systems (cardiovascular, endocrine, muscular, etc.) respond to physical activity. They don't just give you a "workout" they design clinical programs based on your specific pathology.

1. Chronic Disease Management
They work with patients to manage conditions like:

Cardiovascular disease (post-heart attack or stroke)
Type 2 Diabetes (improving insulin sensitivity)
Cancer (managing fatigue during and after treatment)
Osteoporosis and Arthritis
Neurological conditions like Parkinson’s or Multiple Sclerosis

2. Clinical Testing
EPs often perform diagnostic tests to see how your body handles stress. This may include:

Strength testing
Body composition analysis.
Blood pressure and glucose monitoring during exertion.

3. Injury Rehabilitation
They focus on "functional" movement - helping you regain the ability to perform daily tasks or return to sport after the initial acute healing phase is over.

👉 Why see one?
If you are healthy and just want to look better in a t-shirt, a trainer is great. However, you should see an EP if:
- You have a medical condition that makes exercise feel "risky."
- You are recovering from a major surgery or cardiac event.
- You have persistent pain that hasn't responded to standard gym routines.
- You need a data-driven approach to improving your athletic performance.
