Ballarat Yoga

Ballarat Yoga https://ballaratyoga.punchpass.com/classes Ballarat Yoga is located at 306 York St, East Ballarat. We are in the old Seafood shop.

There is plenty of on street parking. If you live close by try riding your bike or walking. The studio was established by Senior Yoga Teacher Shayna Ogden and is a major Ballarat yoga studio, offering Beginner yoga and other classes 7 days a week. Ballarat Yoga studio is a vibrant yoga centre offering a wide variety of classes to cater to a diverse range of people. Ballarat Yoga offers a 7 day a week timetable to beginners and experienced yoga students. The style of yoga taught is called Iyengar yoga... one of the major yoga styles in the world. It is practised by both men and women - any age, any body shape and any level of flexibility. The teachers at the studio are passionately committed to teaching yoga and believe in its power to transform us wherever we are at in our lives. All the teachers are long term practitioners, qualified through many years of specialist training to teach Iyengar yoga. We limit the numbers in all classes to ensure individual needs are met. The studio offers a friendly learning environment where students can enter as a complete beginner and progress safely through to being an experienced student with an established home practice . Unlike some styles of yoga, Ballarat Yoga ensures you get into the positions so you can get all the health benefits of yoga, no matter what level of yoga you are at. Simple props, and professional instruction are used to ensure all students derive the benefits of better health, fitness, flexibility, tone, stress reduction, and / or personal growth.

One of the reasons I really enjoy teaching workshops is that I get to see change happen. And that really is inspiring for the teacher.

When people practise daily, even for just a few days, something shifts. The practice deepens. It becomes less about exercise and more about yoga. Not only do people become more physically able in their asana practice, they also become quieter, observant and reflective. Qualities required to access the other limbs of yoga.

Those of you who joined the Nepal trek in November experienced this over 10 days of practice. You felt it, and I saw it. Your yoga became more authentic, more embodied, less “gym” and more yogic.

This Long Weekend Summer Workshop
(23–26 January 2026) offers a smaller, local version of that same process.

Four days. Real change. Inspiration for us all.

What happens when you practise yoga every day for four days?

Your body softens.
Your mind steadies.
Your practice starts to make sense.
You start to go inwards, not outwards.

Thankyou Geeta

“My own definition of yoga is that it is a restraint of mental modifications, which is the result of restraints brought about by controlling the sense of perception, the movement of the muscles and nerves, the oscillations of the intelligence, andthe interference of the “I” consciousness to a place where no individual “I” exists.

Samadhi (union) is the goal of yoga, according to the theoretical explanation of the shastras, but I think that the real goal is somewhere deeper, where the pure being exists. The aim of yoga, as I see it, is ultimately to reach the inner sanctum of eternal truth, which is a long process of transformation.

Small aims produce small gains that can lead a person to the final goal. Through a faithful practice of yoga, a person will develop compassion, patience, sensitivity, contentment, vigor, faith, and non-attachment, all of which can be viewed as achievements along the path to discovering the inner being.”
