It is practised by both men and women - any age, any body shape and any level of flexibility. The teachers at the studio are passionately committed to teaching yoga and believe in its power to transform us wherever we are at in our lives. All the teachers are long term practitioners, qualified through many years of specialist training to teach Iyengar yoga. We limit the numbers in all classes to ensure individual needs are met. The studio offers a friendly learning environment where students can enter as a complete beginner and progress safely through to being an experienced student with an established home practice . Unlike some styles of yoga, Ballarat Yoga ensures you get into the positions so you can get all the health benefits of yoga, no matter what level of yoga you are at. Teacher Training Weekend – You’re Invited!
This weekend marks another of our teacher training weekends. As always, our Friday night workshop (5.30 – 7.30 pm) is open to all practitioners of Iyengar Yoga. It's a wonderful opportunity to deepen your practice, refine your understanding, and experience the art of yoga teaching in action.
If you are an experienced practitioner interested in exploring the theory and art of teaching this age-old practice, you're most welcome to join us for the full teacher training weekend or attend individual sessions. All teacher training sessions are listed on our schedule page here:

A quick reminder that our next Yoga Teacher Training weekend is coming up Friday 16 – Sunday 18 May, and all are welcome!
We’ll start with a longer Friday evening class for experienced-level students, followed by led practice sessions on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
On Saturday afternoon, we’ll explore the theory of teaching asana, and on Sunday, we dive into philosophy, more teaching theory, and wrap up with a restorative practice.
If you’re considering teaching yoga, or simply want to deepen your understanding of the art, method and philosophy of Iyengar Yoga, this weekend will offer rich learning and inspiration.

🌸 Day 4, Session 6 of our Summer Workshop was all about unlocking the power of our “armpit ribs.”

It might sound simple, but when we lift and lengthen through this area, it does wonders: we open up the chest, free the neck, create space in the shoulders, and lengthen the spine. This foundational shift gives us more access to the shoulder blades, deepening our connection to every asana, and bringing in confidence and energy.

It’s amazing how a small adjustment like that can ripple through everything, from your alignment in every pose to your breath. Do you feel like you’re seeing a noticeable shift in your practice after focusing on that?

Whether you’re new to the practice or have been on the mat for years, this adjustment can transform how you move and breathe.
