Feeling small aches or ni**les during training? It’s often an early sign your body is under strain. Our physiotherapy team at Modern Medicine can assess and treat common running issues like knee, hip, and ankle pain, as well as muscle strains and overuse injuries, helping you stay consistent with your training.

We also offer pre-race movement assessments to identify imbalances, weaknesses, or movement limitations before they turn into bigger problems. By addressing these early, you can improve your running efficiency, reduce your risk of injury, and ensure your body is fully prepared to handle the demands of race day. Early intervention keeps you training smarter, performing stronger, and finishing the race feeling your best.

Old injuries don't just go away. Without the right treatment, they can contribute to ongoing pain, altered movement patterns, and compensatory issues further up the chain.

At Modern Medicine, we take a multi-modality approach bringing together Myotherapy, Podiatry, and Physiotherapy to assess and treat the whole picture, not just the site of pain.

Whether you're dealing with a recurring ni**le or the lingering effects of an old injury, our team builds a personalised plan to get you moving better.

If your child has just sprained their ankle, here is what you actually need to know. 💬

Most parents do the right thing in the first 24 to 48 hours - rest, ice, monitor. But that is usually where it stops. And that is where the problems start.

An ankle that "feels fine" after a sprain is often still weak and unstable underneath. Without the right follow-up, it rolls again. And again. Until it becomes a recurring issue that affects sport, confidence and movement.

The signs it needs more attention:

It has happened more than once The ankle feels wobbly or unreliable They are avoiding sport or activity Swelling keeps coming back after exercise

If any of those sound familiar, it is time to get it properly assessed.

Depending on what is going on, a Podiatrist can look at foot posture and biomechanics, a Physio can assess the injury and guide recovery, and an Exercise Physiologist can build the strength needed to return to sport safely. At Modern Medicine, all three are under one roof.

You do not need to figure out who to see first. Book in and we will guide you from there

The goal is not just to settle the pain. It is to make sure it does not keep happening.

Tight calves, sore glutes, or heavy legs slowing you down? Myotherapy can help by releasing overworked muscles, targeting stubborn trigger points, and improving overall muscle function. It’s a great way to ease tension and support your body through intense training.

Ideal during high-volume training weeks, myotherapy not only helps you recover faster but also reduces the risk of injury, so you can run stronger and perform at your best on race day.

What actually happens during a medical pedicure? It’s similar to a podiatry visit, but with more time, attention, and a focus on both treatment and comfort. Your practitioner assesses your foot health, then safely treats concerns like calluses, corns, thickened nails, and ingrown toenails, while also supporting overall nail health and restoration.

Everything is delivered in a calm, unhurried setting designed to prioritise both function and comfort, not just appearance.

And yes! We treat hands too.

Not all pedicures are created equal.

A medical pedicure is done in a sterile clinical environment using single-use or properly sterilised tools. It focuses on treating concerns like calluses, corns, ingrown and fungal nails, and is safe for people with diabetes or circulation issues.

On the other hand, a salon pedicure often uses shared tools and foot baths, with a focus on cosmetic results rather than foot health, making it unsuitable for medical conditions. Your feet deserve more than cosmetic care, they deserve clinical care.

Ankle keeps rolling? It’s not something you have to just “live with.”

Repeated ankle sprains often point to underlying instability that needs proper assessment and rehab - not just rest or waiting for it to settle.

The good news is, with the right treatment plan you can rebuild strength, restore stability, and get confidence back in your movement.

If your ankle keeps giving way, it’s time to get it checked.

📍 Book an assessment with our podiatry team and they will be able to get you going in the right direction.

After an acute injury, it’s common to hear “just rest it.” But in most cases, the evidence tells a different story.

Tendons and muscles respond best to controlled, gradual loading - not complete rest. Once the initial protective phase has passed, introducing the right amount of movement helps stimulate healing, rebuild strength, and improve tissue tolerance over time.

In clinic, Chris often works with patients who are understandably cautious after injury. His focus is on finding that “just right” level of activity - enough to support recovery, without overloading the area too soon. This approach helps maintain mobility, reduce setbacks from prolonged rest, and build confidence in movement again.

Recovery isn’t about doing nothing. It’s about doing the right things, at the right time, in the right dose.
