🍁 As the days start to get a little shorter and the evenings roll in a bit earlier, it’s easy to feel less motivated to get moving.

That’s completely normal.

But staying active doesn’t have to mean long workouts or big commitments. Small, simple movement throughout your day can make a real difference to how you feel.
Here are a few gentle ways to keep moving this season:

🍂Take advantage of the daylight when you can, even a short walk in the morning or during lunch
🍁Stretch while watching TV or winding down in the evening
🍃Keep things social by going for a walk with a friend or family member
🎋Set small, realistic goals that feel manageable for you

Most importantly, be kind to yourself. Some days will feel easier than others, and that’s okay.

If you need a little extra support or guidance, our team is always here to help you find what works best for you 🤍

Rather be at home? That’s completely okay 💛

We know that getting to appointments isn’t always easy. Whether it’s a busy schedule, mobility challenges, or simply feeling more comfortable in your own space, sometimes coming into the clinic just isn’t the right fit.

That’s why we offer home visits.

We come to you, so you can receive the support you need in a place that feels safe, familiar, and comfortable. It also means we can tailor our approach to your everyday environment, making therapy more practical and meaningful.

Care should work around your life, not the other way around.

If home visits would make things easier for you or your family, we’re here to help.

Looking for ways to keep the kids entertained in the second week of the school holidays? We’ve got you covered 🎉

Ballarat is full of great, family friendly things to do, whether you’re heading out for a big day or just looking for something simple and fun.

You’ve already got classics like Sovereign Hill, Ballarat Wildlife Park and the Ballarat Mechanics' Institute on your list, but here are a few more ideas to mix it up 👇

🌿 Get outdoors at Lake Wendouree
Perfect for a walk, scoot or bike ride. There are playgrounds, space to run around, and plenty of spots for a picnic.

🚂 Visit the Ballarat Tramway Museum
A fun and slightly different outing where you can ride the trams and enjoy a bit of local history.

📚 Pop into your local library
Ballarat libraries often run school holiday programs, craft sessions and storytime, making it an easy and low cost option.

🛝 Check out a new playground
Sometimes the simplest outings are the best. Try somewhere new and let the kids burn off some energy.

Remember, holidays don’t have to be packed to be meaningful. A mix of outings, rest, and simple play can go a long way 💛

If you’re needing support over the school holidays, our team is here to help.

Wishing our wonderful community a very happy and restful Easter 🐣

Whether you’re spending it with family, getting out into the fresh air, or simply taking a well-earned pause, we hope this long weekend gives you the chance to slow down and recharge.

It’s a good reminder that rest is just as important as movement when it comes to looking after your body and mind.

From all of us, stay safe, enjoy the chocolate (in moderation 😉), and take care of yourselves.

Happy Easter 💛 From the Ballarat Allied Care team!

It’s Neurodiversity Celebration Week 💛

And honestly? It’s one of our favourite weeks of the year.

Because this isn’t just about awareness, it’s about celebration.

Celebrating different ways of thinking, learning, communicating, and experiencing the world. The things that make people uniquely them.

At Ballarat Allied Care we’re lucky to be part of a community filled with incredible neurodivergent individuals and families. Every day, we see creativity, resilience, curiosity, and strengths that deserve to be recognised, supported, and championed.

We’re here to support, not change, who someone is.
To create safe, welcoming spaces.
To listen, understand, and work alongside each person in a way that suits them.

Because when people feel seen, supported, and empowered… amazing things happen.

This week (and every week), we celebrate neurodiversity in all its forms. 🌈

Today we recognise National Young Carers Action Day in Australia 💙

Young carers are incredible young people who help care for a family member living with disability, chronic illness, mental health challenges, addiction, or age-related needs. Many balance school, friendships, and everyday life while taking on significant caring responsibilities at home.

This day is about raising awareness, recognising their resilience, and making sure young carers feel seen, supported, and valued.

Let’s take a moment to acknowledge the important role young carers play in our communities and continue working towards better support for them.

Autumn has arrived, and it might just be one of the best times of year to get outside. 🍁

Those crisp mornings wake up the senses, while the warmer afternoons make it comfortable to move, stretch, and explore. The cooler air can actually make physical activity feel easier on the body, helping you walk further, breathe deeper, and enjoy being active without the intensity of summer heat.

Spending time outdoors in autumn can also support your wellbeing. Gentle movement, fresh air, and natural light all help boost mood, support joint mobility, and keep your body feeling strong and balanced.

Whether it’s a morning stroll, a walk through falling leaves, or simply getting some sunshine in the afternoon, this season is a lovely reminder that caring for your body doesn’t have to be complicated.

Sometimes the best thing you can do for your health is simply step outside!

🗣️ Think speech pathologists only help with talking?

✨ Social communication skills (taking turns, reading social cues, conversations)
✨ Play skills and interaction
✨ Stuttering
✨ Literacy (early reading and writing skills)
✨ Voice concerns
✨ Feeding and swallowing difficulties
✨ Alternative communication

We currently have open waitlists for Speech so be sure to give admin superstar Sarah a call on 03 4436 9192 ☎️
