Yoga is a practice that meets you where you are. With thoughtful sequencing and the use of props, Iyengar Yoga supports students of all ages to build strength, mobility and confidence at a pace that feels right for their body.⁣

End of year shutdown and New Year Intensive, 5-9 January 2026

The school will be closed for classes from 12 noon, Wednesday 24 December 2025 to Sunday 4 January 2026.

Helen will then teach a 5-day Iyengar yoga intensive from Monday 5 to Friday 9 January 2026 with daily classes from 6.30 to 8.30am. We have kept the cost consistent with previous years - $100 for the full intensive of $25 per day for casual attendance.

New Year 5 Day Yoga Intensive⁣
5 to 9 January 2026, 6.30 to 8.30am daily⁣

We begin each year with a five day morning Iyengar Yoga intensive to rekindle our enthusiasm for practice and create space for new discoveries. In 2026 our New Year intensive with Helen will run from Monday 5 to Friday 9 January, with classes held each morning from 6.30 to 8.30am. It is a meaningful way to start the year and a reminder that each day is something to be welcomed.⁣

What Makes Iyengar Yoga Different?⁣

Iyengar Yoga is known for its focus on alignment, precision and thoughtful sequencing. Each class is carefully structured so students can learn the postures step by step and build strength, mobility and stability over time.⁣

We use props such as chairs, blocks and bolsters to make the poses accessible for all ages and fitness levels. Props allow every student to experience the shape and action of a posture safely and with clarity, regardless of experience or physical ability.⁣

Teachers in the Iyengar method are highly trained, with years of study in anatomy, philosophy and practical teaching. This depth of knowledge supports students to practise with confidence and understand how yoga can benefit their everyday life.⁣

Join Us for Our End of Year Celebration
23 November 2025⁣

Join the Ballina Yoga teaching team for our end of year thank you gathering in the studio on Sunday 23 November from 10.30am to 12 noon. We will share a light brunch and enjoy some relaxed time together as a community. Friends, partners and children are welcome.⁣ This year, we'd like to give a small insight into the life of BKS Iyengar by showing some archival footage of his own journey as a yogi and teacher. It really does help to contextualise the Iyengar method which we teach exclusively at Ballina Yoga.

This event is our way of expressing our gratitude for your ongoing support of Ballina Yoga and for your dedication to your practice. It will follow the Pranayama and restorative workshop with Helen.⁣

At Ballina Yoga we use props such as chairs, blocks, belts and bolsters to make every pose accessible and meaningful. Props help students learn correct alignment, build confidence and experience the benefits of each posture regardless of age, mobility or fitness level.

Used thoughtfully, props are not shortcuts. They are teaching tools that support safe learning and allow students to explore the poses with clarity and steadiness.

If you are curious about Iyengar Yoga or keen to refine your technique, we would love to welcome you into the studio.
